GLAMMER's Journal, 21 December 2013

I am feeling very frustrated with myself. I know what I need to do & how to do it, I just need to keep at it, & take doing it more seriously. Our plumbing froze up & we've been without running water for nearly 3 sweeks. This has made cooking, washing dishes, even bathing much harder. A man came last weekend & repaired some broken pipes in our pump house, but there was another broken pipe under the house. We called a plumber to fix it, but he had so many calls he didn't get to ours til today. So now theoretically we have our water back, but hubby can't turn it on rtil tomorrow as it was too dark when he came home from work. I know I will be able to eat better after things get back to normal & we have clean dishes & clothes, & flushing toilets again. It may sound a bit crazy, but this has really messed up my eating habits & I'm just glad it's finally over.

Wow... that's terrible, Glam! I can't even imagine being without running water for 3 weeks! And to imagine they used to live that way every day. I don't know how they did it. I was recently without water for just one day, and what a crimp in my life that made! 3 WEEKS? It's no wonder you haven't been able to focus. Well, I hope all is well now. I'm cheering for you! With Jass and me, and all the other great folks on FS, you'll get some great support. Keep in touch!

Hi, Rob. Yes, the "togetherness" I feel with this group is so helpful & encouraging. When our water freezes up, which has up to now only been for a few days at most, is not fun. I also think of how they used to have to haul water, even for long distances in the "old days". My SIL has had to do this when living on a reservation. I'm so thankful that we're up & running (water pun intended, hee hee), & am watching what I eat & getting back to business with weight loss. I hope to have my left hip replaced within the next year or so. I had my left knee replaced in 2003, & my right hip & knee replaced in 2012, but my hip incision got infected twice, & I battled the 2nd one for 6 months. I sure hope & pray that doesn't happen this time, but I really need this hip replacement. I have a genetic collagen defect called "Ehlers-Danlos" Syndrome, that makes my skin, muscles, & all my soft tissues weak. It also causes Osteo Arthritis, which I've had in at least most of my joints for many years. My ability to exercise is very limited, but I exercycle & try to walk when possible, especially here in the house, like to the bathroom, etc. Mostly I use a walker & have a power wheelchair for cooking & times when long standing would be necessary, which I can't do. I could easily use these problems as an excuse, & have at times in the past, but I know I can lose the weight & keep it off if I do so slowly, & by changing how I eat & how I think about food & eating. I lost over 30 lbs before my knee & hip surgeries, but have gained half of it back. Grrr! So no more excuses & fooling around, I'm going to lose at least 50 lbs in the next year. Thank you so much for your encouragement Rob, & I look forward to our journey together toward health & a "skinny lifestyle".

What a great attitude, Glammer!!! :D And I have no doubt in my mind you **WILL DO IT***!!! And this time, you will KEEP it off. :D I admire your strength. Keep going, keep believing, and we will reach our goals. Also, I'm so glad to hear you've got your water back. Sure, some may think it a small victory, but anyone that would say that is either one of the original Mayflower passengers, or has never gone without running water for very long. Keep with it, Glammer! We'll all do it together.

Thanks Rob. You've done an amazing job with your own weight loss! That is so encouraging to me. I know I can & WILL do it, & permanently. I'm so thankful that I found this great group, it is making things much easier, & it feels great to be able to encourage others too.
