KThompson12's Journal, 12 February 2021

I reached my overall goal of 185, almost 40 pounds lost - unbelievable! I’m comfortable in a size 16, need to buy new clothes. I’m still eating about 20% of HMR diet foods each day; still have a shake every morning and usually have an HMR oatmeal and a bar each day, but sometimes I go days without an entree, mostly eating Healthy Choice Power Bowls with or without added veggies. I eat 3-5 bananas every day, and usually apples, pears, clementines and even fruit cups, and I’m eating about 3 servings of nuts or seeds each day (walnuts, slivered almonds, pumpkin seeds). I feel good at this weight and I feel I can maintain it without suffering.
But still I’m scared. I could gain it all back in a month if I lose control. I’m afraid 1 Margarita or brownie could spin me into a free fall, my blood sugar could go wild and force me back on that roller coaster of binging on junk day in and day out, and not caring. I’m reading a lot about maintaining, setting goals for exercise so I don’t quit, visualization ahead of certain events and planning for obstacles. Maintaining will take as much effort as losing.
184.6 lb Lost so far: 38.8 lb.    Still to go: 0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
losing 0.8 lb a week

I feel the same way. I love that you can track weekly as well as daily here. So you can see it balance out after a snacky day.

Losing is hard, maintaining is even harder (IMHO). You've definitely got the right idea to keep planning and having an eye on things. I have finally come to the realization that ONE of anything will not set me back to the beginning, I AM capable of moderation but a plan is still needed (for me).

How exciting! Many people on maintenance stay on this site. Good luck!

For me, like Rckc maintaining has been harder than losing. Many other people have said that too. I have been up and down all my life. Sometimes I could gain as much as 5 sizes in one year and then down 5 the next year. This time the cycle was a year and a half. And it sure was 5 sizes. I am on my way back down now, with 3 or 4 sizes to go. Being short, not too many lbs equal one size.

Good for you!!! That's AWESOME to reach your goal!My 155-165# was my body's happy healthy weight when I was working. I changed my goal to 175 today bc of FS members like you who reach their goals better when they're shorter. Thank you for inspiring me.

way to go! Remember it's better to eat a small healthy snack or meal every 2.5 to 3 hours. This keeps your metabolism up. You got this!

You're doing a wonderful job staying on track. Beware of where and how you can slip is an accomplishment in itself. Have a plan to get back on track if you do have that brownie. Believing that you are in control and that falling into old eating habits is NOT who you are anymore, gives you power and knowledge to adjust. 👍😊
