One thing that has helped me start shedding pounds a little quicker is trying cut out some sodium. I'm a salt freak. I salt pizza. We all know that sodium makes your body hang on to water, which is not that big of a deal weight-wise, because you can get it off as quickly as you retained it and it's not fat, so who cares if you're carrying a little extra water, right? But I heard about a week ago that, when you're trying to lose weight, your body tries to get rid of that extra water you're retaining first and it slows down the actual fat-burning process. So, even though I HATED the taste of unsalted food, I stopped adding additional salt. After a few days, I started cooking with low-sodium stuff; broth, no-salt-added canned veggies, etc. I bought some light salt which has 1/2 the sodium of regular table salt but the same taste. I've started using it instead, and my weight-loss shows it. Even though the SBD doesn't require you to watch your sodium, every little bit may help, especially if you're stuck right now!

That is such good info! I'm a salt junkie too and I needed that reminder. When I was following the diet carefully I noticed I wasn't eating as much sodium and my face wasn't as puffy in the morning. You just FEEL thinner immediately. And it's better for your heart isn't it? Your weight loss is impressive, amyf19!

The other thing about salt is that most prepared foods out there contain way too much of it anyway. Most of us are eating almost double the reccomended amount per day. So it very much makes sense that cutting down on sodium not only helps the diet but also helps your health.

Not to mention, cutting down on salt will greatly improve your skin tone.
