ShellyT77's Journal, 16 January 2009

This past week I have really just been trying to function.

My dad is in the hospital, he went in on Monday with Congestive Heart Failure. He has Pneumonia, and his kidneys have shut down. They started his dialysis yesterday. Since Tuesday night he has been on a Ventilator - basically life support. He was having so much trouble breathing on his own and he couldn't push the carbon dioxide out of his body. Still as bad as it sounds they are optimistic that he will be able to come off the ventilator soon, finish the dialysis and be better. We are praying and hoping that is true.

I have lost a pretty good amount of weight (2.4 lbs) this week because of all this and just having to find the time to eat.

I should have a pretty good loss next week too because I have surgery on Thursday (they are getting me ready for the In-Vitro we are hopefully having in March) But, I won't be able to eat much on the surgery day of course and the day before I am on a clear liquid diet. So probably a good loss coming into next Friday too!

Well, I have a lot to do so I need to run.
Good Luck to all my FS Buddies at their weigh in this week!
138.0 lb Lost so far: 11.0 lb.    Still to go: 13.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Thank You. It is hard. The good news is he came off the ventilator today!!! He still is under and real foggy. It is going to be hard to tell him when he wakes up that he is on dialysis for the rest of his life. At least it looks like we aren't going to lose him so that is all that matters! Keep your prayers for us, we need all we can get.
