amyf19's Journal, 11 July 2008

I need to give myself a pep talk. I'm very frustrated. The way I lost 30 lbs. at 21 isn't working at 29. My body is 8 years older, 2 babies later, and fighting an uphill battle against this Mirena thing. I don't know if that's having an effect or not, but I've been working my butt off and barely losing a pound a week, if even that. I did have a "loose" couple of days over the 4th of July weekend, but I thought those 3 extra lbs. were just water. I didn't do THAT bad. But apparently I can just think about eating a spoonful of ice cream and stall out on my weight loss. I'm just now back to the weight I was a week and a half ago. But (here comes the pep talk), I'm doing everything right. I'm eating like I should, I've started watching portion sizes more, and I'm working out daily. My body HAS to lose this fat at some point or another. I can't continue to be overweight if I just keep on doing what I'm doing. It just looks like it's going to take a lot longer than it did a few years ago. This is supposed to be a lifestyle anyway, not just a short term diet, so I'll be eating like this for the rest of my life, not just until I hit my goal. My two-year-old would sing Dory's little song from Nemo, "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...."
181.0 lb Lost so far: 10.0 lb.    Still to go: 31.0 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.

Just keep your head up, you CAN do it! You've done it before! Maybe you should do a little research on mirena online and see if it could be a secret saboteur. If it is, talk to your doc about something else for bc. Good luck to you, I know it gets hard, TRUST me, but it WILL happen. Be persistent with your eating habits and exercise, and your body will follow suit. You'll notice it, just keep on truckin! Good luck girl!
