Im struggling with home/work life balance right now and finding time to work on me. My partner is very supportive but he has a different way of eating and it doesn't line up with my goals and since we both work busy jobs, when we get home, all we want to do is have our dinner and watch some tv together before bedtime. Which leaves me only early morning to work out and to be honest, Im struggling to wake up earlier enough to do everything I want to do (cardio, lifting ect). Then I spend my lunches rushing home (I live 8 min from my office) to do chores so the house is clean when we get home..I used to work from home so I had the time and energy to "do it all" but I got to admit, its hard now. What works for everyone? I basically want to be able to lift weights - maybe Tues/Thur then cardio Mon/Wed/Fri ?? Im at the gym by 6am and have about 50 min to 1 hr to work out before I got to hit the shower to get to work on time. Working out after work just isnt an option - I tried it at first and I struggled to sleep at night and I prefer to work out on an empty stomach. Any advice or input is greatly appreciated.

On a side note..my 3lbs loss didnt hold over the weekend because I allowed myself a cheat. Meh. My fault but Ill take the 2lbs loss anyday. The cheat was just a cheat and not emotional eating so Im ok with it. Back on track today and have plans to change it up at the gym and follow Tom Venuto's plan for the week starting tomorrow since today I just did cardio cause I needed to get to work early.

I prefer to work out early, also. But, the trainer is not available until the afternoon. So, I pleaded with my boss to rearrange my schedule a bit on two days a week, so that I can go work with the trainer. The cardio, I can do on lunch hour or before work on the other mornings. I told my husband that if the work schedule re-arrangement becomes an issue, I will be getting up at 4:30 am to meet with the trainer at an early morning schedule. Whatever it takes! I'm going to do this. If you want it bad enough, you will make the time. Good luck to you.

thanks friends. I set my alarm for 430 and Im up by 515 bc it takes a couple of snoozes. Im working on that but I take melatonin to sleep which Ive cut in half and started taking earlier. Right not Im lucky if I can get to gym by 6am but I have a freind that meets me there so it holds me accountable. Im thinking maybe add another day in on the weekend at the gym? Im on week 3 of consistently going to the gym 5 days a week and Im prepared to find a way to work out the kinks. My immediate goal is to just get there everyday..I agree, where there is a will there is a way.. I just need to find my way..

Girl you are going to burn out quick going like that! What about the weekends?
25 Feb 19 by member: CrashtestDawnie
Dawnie, I detest doing anything on the weekend. I reserve one day to "do nothing" and just decompress. I need down time or as I like to call it, a mental health day. Then the other weekend day is reserved for chores, laundry and shopping. And I work 1/2 day every other Saturday. I like the way I feel after the gym before work and it gives me energy.. I just feel like I dont have time to do everything I want to at the gym.. maybe Im setting my expectations to high...

If you really want this you will make the time!!! You got this. Schedule your workouts whether you need to go to the gym right after work or before dinner or even wake up an hour earlier to fit it in. You can fit it in if you really want to. Don’t overthink your workouts in the gym. I noticed when I plan what I’m gonna do before hand and right a list and follow the list I get done much faster plus I have an great workout.

I will give you the keto perspective which is that the eating is so more important than the exercise. Your body will burn your fat if you stay in ketosis. On keto it is important to get a lot of sleep and rest and keep cortisol low. Some exercise can be helpful but if it is too much stress to achieve it the end result may not be in your favour. A good walk, some yoga and stretches in the morning may be all you need for now. Keto is not a calorie counting diet. All up to you.

I have lost a lot of weight

My husband and I are in a similar situation having different diets and long work hours. We get home about 6 and aren't able to eat until about 7, then we watch our shows for a couple hours, go to bed, and I'm up again at 5 to get to work by 6am. A small thing I do to get in the extra exercise I need to eat as much as I do, is that I don't just sit there while watching our shows. I do squats, march in place, do resistance bands or SOMETHING just to keep burning. It was very embarrassing at first, but now it's just automatic, and if I'm NOT moving I get very fidgety.

thanks Coni, I kinda do something similar. I do my "ab" stuffs like crunches and sit ups while we watch TV and he challenges me with planks and push ups and stuff like that but ill be honest, its not everyday. Maybe every other day. I also have plans to swim one evening a week when it warms up. Im in Texas so that should be in a few weeks LOL. I guess bottom line, I need to focus on my diet harder and find a gym schedule that is realistic and works for my lifestyle... Oh long gone are the days of being a gym bunny,, lol

liv001 and rosio19 are both right. You can absolutely lose weight without working out by eating at a calorie deficit while staying in ketosis. (I’m assuming you’re on Keto) But getting the right amount of sleep and keeping stress levels low are also very important. I say do what you can fit in now, and once you are closer to your goal then you can really kick it up. @crashtest is right, this early on you risk burning out if you’re spreading yourself too thin. Good luck!

Been there and done that. I did the same at lunch and came back home to get the house in order, clean and dinner prepared. So what helped me after 8 months of this lunch time Molly Maid I talked to my hubby and asked him to help me. After dinner we would make the lunches and clean the kitchen. Then we would decide what we would tackle together or alone, ie.: start a wash, fold a load, wash the bathroom, dust, pass the vacuum, etc.... We would put the timer on for 15 minutes. Sometimes the chore was completed within the time allotted and sometimes not. We both felt a sense of accomplishment after this 15 minute of house chores. After 7 years we are still doing this during the week and also we have more time during the weekend to do outdoor activities. Hope this helps.

I swim everyday- that’s my thing. I live in California so seldom is it so bad outside that I can’t put on my ASICS or hiking boots and get some cardio as well as good old bone pounding to keep my bones strong. I do my own mini weight workout at home to a program on TV. If the weather is really bad I go to the gym as a last resort. Jullippe—as women we think we can do it all— news flash, we can’t. It is great that you and your husband can work as a team. Anyone who relies on spending hours and hours at the gym trying to outrun a bad diet is setting themselves up for a fall. Men can pull it off— the little woman is home taking care of the kids and the house while he is pumping iron and staying in shape. Sorry guys. Many of you know this is true. It’s nice to have a physical activity routine that the entire family can participate in sometimes. Kids today need it as bad or even worse than we do.

Well I work out in the evenings - my idea of morning exercise is getting out of bed, LOL! Then again, I usually work out at home anyway. What helps me with meals the most is a two-fold plan of meal planning & having a few ready-mades on standby to fight the urge to eat out when I'm too tired after work to cook. Have all the ingredients needed for a recipe on hand, & choose recipes that take about 30 min or less to prepare. I can usually do that. Lunches are either leftovers or diet TV dinners. Yeah, they're not great but they're quick, I can just toss one in the lunch bag with a piece of fruit. As for cleaning, well, I do most of that on the weekends. I usually empty the dishwasher before I start cooking, so that things can go straight in after use. But I admit, I don't always do this, and sometimes I just have to put up with a dirty kitchen. I admit, not the greatest housekeeper but oh well....

And just to put it out there, I’m not saying Keto does not work. you just have to obey cico, consciously or unconsciously

I bought a little pedal thing, a stationary bike without the bike, and I keep it under my desk at work. I try to pedal often during the day- not strenuously, but making it a habit to keep moving a little. I think it helps.

I understand completely. I tried mornings but that just never worked unless I never wanted to sleep.... So, I make time for myself between 8-9pm and watch tv while I exercise. Hubby watches what he wants and all is happy. We share dinner together-food he likes and food I like. The protein is the same just changes in veggies and salads. I clean up as I go so and make certain hubby does he fair share. I am not the cleaning women nor the nanny.

my significant other have an unwritten agreement, he cooks and I clean. To be honest, he cleans like sh!t and Ill just have to do it "my way" anyway so this is what works for us..working out during lunch just isnt an option for me anymore so I just really need to find a way to wake up earlier, even just 15 min early would rock my world right now.. I agree, I need to work hard on my diet so the excersise I do get in actually makes a difference. I also need to learn to accept that maybe this is all I got right now and just go with it.. the desire is there, the time isnt..
