No wheat belly challenge! Here we go... Never understood how one slice of bread can cause bloating when I've eaten veggies and chicken all day. I found out about the book "Wheat Belly" by William Davis MD when I complimented a co-worker who had lost weight and seemed more energetic (without exercising). I found the information in the book intriguing and decided to give it a try. Thanks to all who joined the challenge. I look forward to celebrating success!

Howdy--I'm in the challenge, haven't read the book, but I know wheat is my nemesis! I'm assuming we just don't eat wheat, right? I have been trying to avoid gluten wherever possible, so I'm ready for the challenge to give me added incentive to do so!

I read the book twice… For 3+ years I have been diligently trying to lose weight, Weight Watchers, dieting, walking 5 days a week 2.5 mi. I could lose weight only if I would cut calories extremely, then at the same rate would gain it all back even on a low calorie diet and exercise 5 times a week. I heard about this book and also was looking into Veganism and Leptin resistance at the time. So I cut out Wheat, Vegetable Oil, and sugar. I got my weight back down, read the book, surprisingly my weight stayed the same over the next few weeks. I have been tracking my weight for 3+ years and this is the first time that it is stable. No wheat! So I did some tests, pizza, 2 days later bloated/sick feeling and up 4lbs. Took about 3 days to get back down. But now I don't count calories at all anymore, eat plenty of rice and corn products, avoid vegetable oils; sugar not so much, and after 3 months have stabilized the 25 lb loss. I also noticed no more feeling constipated all the time, but I think that was the bloating I was feeling from wheat.
