Both cats are rescues. Max, on the left, goes in and out multiple times checking to see if anything improved. He whines and makes a chirping-barking sound to get out - I think he must have lived with a dog at some point and decided that was a very effective way to communicate. Ms. Morgan, on the right, just turned 18 and doesn't choose to go outside much anymore but still will fight any feline interlopers. Any of you who have cats of both sexes, don't you find it true that the females defend the territory? Max just likes to hunt mice and lizards and set them loose, alive, in the house.

We have two Bengal cats that are very dog-like as well.Once of them growls like a lion roar!

@HCB - love the look of those Bengals! I used to have a female Manx cat who would growl loudly at joggers and at an adult neighbor who was a bit off-kilter. Morgan taught Max about growling and he seemed shocked when the sound came out of him.

Ah the mystery. I just saw the documentary "Kedi" about the cats that live in Istanbul. I was wondering why I was seeing Norwegian Forest Cats in Istanbul but then they explained how the Vikings would come from Norway and they always kept cats on the ship to eat the rats. Well, the cats came ashore and the boats would often leave without them. Guess those cats really wanted to get away from the snow...:-)
