Good morning buddies! I am officially off of school/clinical for the next five days and it's a wonderful feeling! I have plenty of homework and reviewing to keep me busy but studying almost feels like a leisure activity compared to the fast pace of clinical lol.

We have been practicing IV therapy for the last two weeks, we have one more week of skills practice then we are on to competencies. October ninth will be my IV clinical day. One full day of starting IV's on an outpatient surgery floor. This second year really seems to be flying by at light speed. It seems like just two weeks ago I was coming back from our short summer break (in June) and I was terrified to start my new round of clinical. Now next weekend will be our clinical midterm.

I am planning on sitting for the STNA certification exam in September if I can come up with the application fee. We could use the money, that's for damn sure, BUT I also feel it would give me some really valuable experience and get me oriented to a facility I might be interested in working in as an lpn once I pass the NCLEX. School plus works sounds like an overwhelming task but now that I'm getting better and managing the stress of clinical weekends I don't think it's impossible. Perhaps it could even be beneficial. I worry about stretching myself too thin though.

So anywho, my calorie deficits have been good and I'm hoping for a good loss on the scale tomorrow. Yesterday I ended up going on a decent walk and that helped me make my step goal. That's about the only intentional exercise I've done this week. I know I have to do better than that, but we only have one week of summer vacation left. Once the kids are in school I can get back to my a.m. workout routine. I better enjoy the slow mornings while I've got them.

Going to shoot for a bike ride with my youngest after lunch. Have a great day buddies!!
