Struggling to stay motivated. Having lots of cravings - have not given in yet; but the cravings are more noticeable than in past. Probably emotional... I want sweets or a glass of wine - mostly. I have pretty much banned them from my intake over the last few months. Do not want to give in because I don't think "just a little" will help. Going for a walk with my dog - see if that helps banish this crappy feeling

From what I have heard eating more protein will curb the sweet cravings and I have found it did for me . You can do this don't give it . Like you said it will not just be a little .

Hey girl. Suggestion. I have dieted for years, and if there is one thing that I have finally figured out it's you can't deny yourself everything you love. Pick a couple of things you are really craving, maybe your favorite wine and favorite dessert. Don't go overboard. I looked at the calories in wine, and most of the popular wines seem to have 24 or 25 calories an ounce. So, pick a day of the week and plan to have a glass of wine (say 4 or 5 ounces, 100 to 125 calories) or a sliver of your favorite dessert. Find the calories and break it out to the amount you want to eat. You might even want to add Club Soda to your wine which has 0 calories to make it last longer. Would I do this every week, NO! But, you are not in prison. Believe it or not, my downfall is Miracle Whip. I refuse to eat the lo cal or fatfree stuff. It tastes terrible and I love tomato sandwiches, so I use diet bread, 1 1/3 T. of M. Whip (53) calories and I enjoy it. No regrets! I see you are doing the Adkins diet, and you may not be able to have this on that diet, but you could also consider changing your diet plan. I am counting calories, so it would work for me, but if you don't want to change, pick out two of your favorite things that you can have on Adkins. Good Luck, and hope this helps. Lynn

i've lost 85 -30 pounds to goal 1 I understand the struggle to stay motivated.it is not easy to find the right place where you're not beating yourself up with too much self deprecation for normal needs desires and wants.Over time there's this need to be normal-like everyone else.w ell, we have to accept th fact that -we;re not like everyone else when struggles to lose and maintain will always be there. The best we can do is gift ourselves with tiny pleasures like a glass of wine or a sliver of dessert then compensate but cutting other things and make sure not to skip the exercise! Balance self gifts with self promises it will all work out!

Okay here is my two cents of encouragement...read my journal...today is my 34th anniversary and I too have severe cravings of sweets and wine but it is now dinner and have perservered! Only 6 hours to go! Hubby is really really helping me stay on track, making me and iced coffee with whipping cream, and cooking dinner...tomorrow morning I know I will be happier...but right now it must seriously be a "wine and chocolate day" I guess we have to decide will I really really feel better eating and drinking or will I feel better not.....We can make it through today together :)

Everything's a tradeoff, & only you can weigh the options to decide what you're willing to do. One option might be to take a day off of Atkins to work out any food cravings you have. The tradeoff would be to deal with a TEMPORARY weight gain due to water retention & run the risk of having trouble reining it in to get right back on track the next day. Another would be to continue with the WOE you committed to & try new foods to see if that can help quiet your cravings. Since low carb diets tend to be mostly savory, my peanut butter cream has been a lifesaver when I'm jonesin for something sweet & don't want to go off-plan. Atkins bars are another option, I know lot of folks who cut them into pieces & freeze so they can just grab a bite-sized piece whenever they need one. Yet another option is diet soda. Many on Atkins are sensitive to artificial sweeteners, but many are not. I limit diet soda consumption in general, but have not noticed any effect on my weight loss when I do have it so I enjoy it every now & again. Good luck hon, hopefully you find something that works!!

You can do this, don't get discouraged. That one or two sweet treats are not worth it! When I am craving sweets I try to eat celery with Peanut butter, that always works for me.
