gingin40's Journal, 25 July 2014

Today I realized for the first time that I have officially dropped a pant size. I was walking to visit neighbors and noticed that the pants I was wearing (size 24) are baggy on me now. I am so happy that I have made this change in my eating habits and I am exercising more. I was asked if I was on a "diet" and I said no because I do not believe in the word. I always tell everyone that I am managing my weight.

I wanted to ask everyone what they thought about the word "diet". Do you like the word or hate it? How would you answer the question I was asked today? Have a great day.

First, congratulations! What an awesome feeling that must have been for you. As to the use of the word "diet". I may use it when I say things like "healthy diet" but I never use it in terms of making smarter decisions about what and how much I eat. To me, "diet" infers restrictions and that's just not a good way to live, for me anyway. I am just making healthier choices that work for me. I know I need to keep a good record of what I'm eating so that I can continue to progress towards my healthier goals. If people ask, it's because my achievements are (finally) being noticed by the outside world too. If asked, I simply respond that I've been making healthier lifestyle choices. Best to you on your journey and whoop it up when you break that next pants size!
