Day 1

Never in all the futuristic scenarios of my life did I ever think that I would be here...56 years old, widowed with three young children and well on my way to being 300 lbs. Yet here I am. I have continued my walking to the Glory of God; however my weight has remained the same because my eating habits are horrific exaserbated by overwhelming grief. It will be two years December 11th and I feel like it is today. I am lost and alone. Thank God for Fat Secret...and so it begins.

I'm sorry for you loss. I lost my sister to brain cancer a few years ago and it's still difficult sometimes. I can't imagine your pain. But taking care of yourself for you and your children is SO important. So good for you for being here and taking the steps to get healthy. It won't happen overnight and weight loss is a continual learning process. Be proactive and learn as much as you can about nutrition and fitness. Get a few fitness magazines for motivation. Get some books out of the library. Get out with the kids and do some fun and free activities. Kids love to be busy and the activity will help you. Exercise helps us deal with stress. Slapping on a pedometer and aiming for 10,000 steps a day is a great way to get in exercise to begin. Trakc all your food. Try new recipes that the family will love and can help make. Some great sites: Cookinglight.com, Emilybites.com and Skinnytaste.com Take it one day at a time. You CAN do this!!!!

You are never alone.....God will never leave you, nor forsake you. That being said, it really is a blessing to have Christian sisters along side us on this journey. My husband intentionally disappeared 14 years ago....so have often felt alone (betrayed, deserted). I will turn 63 later this month. A year and a half ago, I weighed in at 335. I am now at 201.4. It's never too late!
