Celebrate with me for a significant victory! I am an emotional eater. Yesterday I had a shopping experience that was so stressful that I returned what I’d just bought and left the store. Then I decided that I should stop for ice cream on the way home. I deserved that and it would make me feel better. It took prayer and every bit of will power to drive directly home. I still overate once I got home but at least it was not on processed foods- well there were leftover cupcakes from the birthday party that I will throw out today; I had watermelon ( a whole personal sized one!). I also deserved not to exercise! Folks - that is stinkin ’ thinkin’ as a friend likes to say. One step at a time. This continues to be a journey.

I too am working on getting my mind back from emotional eating and trying to avoid getting so hungry that I’m going to eat whatever I get my hands on🙏🏻. Pickles and beef jerky help me with those hunger pains 👍🏻

We have to be strict to be where we want to be, and the older we get the harder that becomes.

You gotta crawl before you walk. Take things one day at a time. I’m proud of you 🥳💕

You all rock! Emotional eaters need someone to help talk them to calm ( that’s you 😂). @ Snowwhite, totally agree!! @ Carol , I am sure that your dogs love this! @ Erq - Better in the trash 😂- yes! The deed is done. I put the cupcakes in the freezer, but I learned that they tasted even better frozen! 😂😂😂😂. So this morning, I put them in the trash and since I have been known to dumpster dive (in my own kitchen!), I put them in a bag with garbage! 😂😂. @Ridemariel I think that front line workers are sometimes not energized about losses to the owner. I retuned about $650 in product! Just told them to keep it! I had purchased a pallet of sod and necessary tools and soil amendments. So thanks Etten and Lara and each of you. I am feeling strong. Exercise goal was completed this morning with strength training and now I am headed for a walk. Let’s MAKE it a sunshiny day!☀️☀️☀️☀️

That’s awesome 👏 that you didn’t get the ice cream. My hats off to you I’m an emotional eater too and sometimes it’s hard to go in the healthy direction. Keep up the good work. Stay strong, focus and healthy! 🍀🌈😊🎉

Cupcakes are disposal fodder. 100%. Putting that shit in the freezer or in the trash, in my house, is just the same as eating it. Only with a giant helping of self delusion. Let's go! #fireupthedisposal

Sometimes I eat stuff just to remind myself how much I haven't given up. I have not been denying myself or missing some delicious mouthwatering food. Some store was giving away donuts one Saturday afternoon. So I took one. I ate it and every bite reaffirmed what I already knew. Cupcakes, cake, donuts all that stuff just isn't what I want anymore. Now some might think... yeah way to rationalize eating a donut !

PS... I really don't eat that stuff anymore and it has been almost 3 years. So If I can do it anyone can including you LIS !!

@jimmiepop loving that #fireupthedisposal! Now that is intentionally serious!!! 😂 why didn’t I think of that! Got it!!😂😂! @Crazycatchick, I am glad that you have that level of self awareness. That is awesome control! We all have different tolerance levels for certain foods. For me, the cupcakes are a gateway “drug”. The sugar sets up cravings that make it hard to relish nutritionally dense foods. And then the health accomplishments that I have made begin to unravel! I plan not to “find” the weight that I lost 🤗 and the sense of well being that comes from that.

LIS you will find self control and self awareness too ! Passing on the ice cream and trashing the cupcakes was a huge accomplishment. Stay well !

Thanks, Crazycatchick! On a different note, I have taken time to consider why I allowed myself to get so stressed in the store. People can’t make you angry is my philosophy; you let yourself go there. As I thought about that, yesterday I woke up about 5 am (less sleep) and mentally worked thru the re-sodding project in bed. Then, skipping my devotional time, I ate breakfast and rushed out to the store. So, I was not as I call it prayed up and armed up for the day. That is unusual for me. You may do meditation or something similar. This morning I read Psalm 18:1 I will love you, O Lord, my strength, The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust..... I hope that sharing this has not offended anyone.

Great victories. I still enjoy ice-cream, cookies, and other foods quite regularly, but no longer out of control like before. And with exercise, I see it as quality time and self-love.
