Lizzie983's Journal, 12 February 2014

Yesterday I had an overeating episode.
This time emotions played a minor role, I was so hungry!!
I met some Italian friends for a drink and on my way home I bought some ice cream. A small box of ben and jerry's. And then I have eaten also some salami. The pointis: I haven't left room in my daily calorie for those snakes, so these are all extra calories.
I realized that cutting down breakfast does not work for me. Espcially yesterday, I felt hungry all time.
The past days I had only a slice of fresh pineapple for breakfast and some other fruit in bestween breakfast and lunch.
This morning I increased breakfast calories by adding one cracker with a slice of cheese and half a cup of yogurt.
I start to feel guilty again about food I eat, and that's not a good thing.
Well, dieting is also experimenting, right? And I remember from last time that the hardest days are the first 2weeks, when the body still needs to get used to lower amount of daily calories. I fell off the wagon yesterday, todayit's a new day and I can do better :)
Have a good day, fatsecreters!!
Life is good! :)

The first two weeks are definitely the hardest! In my case (with South Beach Diet), the first two weeks are crucial because the cravings for carbs (esp bread and rice) and sugar are supposed stop after that period. While you are in that time frame though, you have to stay away from them while the craving IS STILL there! Torture! It got better though. =) Give yourself time to get used to your selected diet and exercise plan - both physically and emotionally of course. This journey is tough but you also have to feel good about it in order to stay motivated. FS buddies are really supportive! =)

I think you made a wise choice by adding some protein and healthy fats to your breakfast. It will make a world of difference! I also really wanted ice cream last night but I have eaten out too many times this past week so I told myself no because I want to wait a few days and see what my weigh in is so I know what kind of damage it did. Since I have been pregnant I don't have bowel movements daily anymore. So I try to make sure my weigh in follows a day where I have been able to go. I read that is quite common while pregnant. Just is weird to me this time since I eat so healthy and drink so much water not to. As far as your overeating I have come to find if I allow myself a small amount of sweets like 100 calories everyday I don't fall into the trap of cravings and failing. Have you ever tried doing that?

I say focus on the positive. Great job adding in the fruit! Remember that it is not the quantity of the food but the quality. If you add in a lot of good it will crowd out the bad. to put it in perspective I always refer back to a book, "Feed your hunger for health and happiness", a 1lb. bag of potato chips is equal to 1lb. 2% cottage cheese, 2lbs. cantaloupe, 1 lb. apple,1lb. tofu, 1lb. kale, 2lbs. celery 1lb. lettuce, 1 lb. carrot, 1 lb. papaya, 1 lb. onion, And 2 lbs. cucumber. Don't beat yourself up you are already moving in the right direction :)
