kmunson's Journal, 08 October 2013

Getting myself geared up for my checkup on Friday with my Doctor. First one since I started this journey with instructions from him that I needed to drop weight and lower my cholesterol. Blood test should give him what he needs on the cholesterol and hopefully I have lost enough at this point to make him happy. When I started this I weighed 294, now I am at 259 as of this morning. My siblings have all been on cholesterol lowering meds so I am expecting that I will be on them also after Friday. Our family history is horrible with heart attacks and strokes. We will see what happens in a few days.

He should be very happy, and so should you! Hoping for great news from the doc regarding cholesterol. You have made a lot of positive changes and deserve positive results!!

I am in the same boat as you. I have my appointment for yearly physical in 2 days. I think I'm heading in the direction for cholesterol meds, but don't want to take them, as I have restless leg syndrome at age 66 and don't want anymore joint muscle pain that those meds offer, unfortunately. Even with the appointment coming up; I haven't kicked myself in the butt, to work harder at dieting, trigercerites lowering and cholesterol could be slightly lower. I do work a little harder at exercise, but not enough there either. So, the doc can at least see you have made an effort, nice lose. Good luck to you on that appointment

Hubby has appointment with same doctor right before me. This will be the first time he has been at the doctor for a year. He has lost over 70 lbs. I think it will minimize what I have accomplished so far. Though I am at the same pace that Hubby lost his weight...so hopefully Dr. will be pleased with both of us. Hubby is hoping to lose the blood pressure meds he was put on a year ago.

Together you guys are over 100lbs lighter, what an accomplishment for both of you! I don't think your husbands loss minimizes your accomplishment at all. I'm sure it will go very well, do keep us posted!

Well...having this deadline seems to be working. I am down to 257 this morning. I wanted to be at 250 when I saw the doctor again. I don't think I can drop that much in a day...but it would be cool to get down to 254 so I have dropped a full 40 lbs when I get there. Goals are good.
