Annabelle3117's Journal, 03 October 2013

Good Morning buddies! Well, it's morning here in Ohio (USA) but I've noticed some of us have very different time zones! Please feel free to sub in whatever time of day it is where you are :-).

I am exhausted, and still sore from yesterday's workout. It must be the sore throat virus I've got going on, it's slowing me down. Grateful today is my recovery day from the gym.

I can't believe tomorrow is weigh-in day again already!! Time flies. As of my last weigh in I have lost just over six pounds since starting the biggest loser competition. I was off to a rough start so I have some catch up work to do. Hoping I'll be able to make that six a ten. I'd be happy if I could make it a eight or nine, I just like to dream big lol. Four pounds a week is do-able, but I don't like to put that kind of pressure on myself. The woman who is tracking the weights of the contestants has been traveling in Russia the last few weeks, I'm just dying for an update of how everyone else is doing. Does anyone know how to calculate percentage of weight lost? I guess that's how were measuring this.

Anywho, October is Down's Syndrome awareness month. My 14 year old sister has Down's, so to me this is a big deal. Lots of people see Down's Syndrome as a burden, but she is truly the light of our lives. She is always full of laughs, smiles, hugs, and kisses. The beauty of life shines in her eyes, she has made me a better person just by being in my life. My kids love their Aunt Angelina. This makes me proud, because not enough children are familiar with disabilities, and that is where discrimination stems from. My sister may have down's, but she understands when people are mean to her, so It's a worry my family and I constantly carry. As a parent/family member of a person with Down's you are always worried about them being treated equally or having the same opportunities as other children, and sadly a lot of time they get neither. So I just wanted to take a moment to tell you about my sister, and some of the struggles we face.

Have a great Thursday everyone!!

Hi Yolanda. I will fill in a little infor about me :) I live in north Central Alabama. As you know by now, I travel a great deal for work and am currently in Houston Texas for 2 weeks. I honestly hate houston and can't wait to leave here. I generally like Texas but not Houston :) I agree with Mike, your weight loss is remarkable. I am so shocked that even after losing over 50 pounds you can still lose 4 pounds in a week. I am inspired. Good luck with the weigh in tomorrow. You are obviously doing great.

You are doing great, so I'm sure that weigh in will be a good one. Can a sore throat be spread through the computer? I woke up with one too, but we've had something going around the office. I have a friend who has a child with Down's and she is a beautiful girl. She is only 3, and learning something new every day, just like any other 3 year old. He and his wife love that little girl so much, and so does everyone who meets her. I'm glad you shared your story about your sister, I'm sure she is a wonderful girl!

Thank you Alex! I never thought of myself as inspiring, it's quite the compliment and I appreciate it very much!! I've always wanted to travel to the southern states, but sadly I've never had the opportunity. I've been to Michigan many times, PA, Indiana and Illinois. Nothing to see in any of those places lol. My dad's family lives in Houston, long complicated story, but I've never been there. Someday I hope to be able to make my rounds on a long fabulous road trip. Thank you as well Mars! Sorry you caught the bug lol, lots of water and fruit hopefully it moves on out quickly! I am glad to hear about your friend's daughter, and the effect she has on all she meets. It gives me hope for the future of our society. Again, thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. You lift me up when I am down, and when I'm struggling I have somewhere to go to work it out. It's a priceless gift, and I consider myself lucky to have 'met' you!

We had a couple that lived not far from us when I was growing up that had a down's child. My sister babysat for the family frequently. Then when I was in high school I was in a journalism class where I had to interview people. I interviewed the family about having a down's child. The title of my article was something about "Having a child with Down's gives family a special kind of Love!" the teacher liked the story so well that she turned it in to our local paper for publication. Ever since then I realize just how "special" these children are. They are truly a gift from God for the families chosen to have one in their midst.
