I am feeling very challenged this week. I'm poised to hit 200 soon and I think I am trying to sabotage myself or something.

We had an awards ceremony at work yesterday and they had bought an entire sheet of carrot cake. There is no way we have enough people for a whole sheet, so naturally more than half the cake is sitting in the break room for people to eat. I have a half cup of blackberries at my desk that I plan to snack on over the course of the morning. They are plenty sweet. But the library shelves and new magazine shelves are in the break room, plus I got a lot of returns yesterday, so I have to keep going in there to shelve things. A week or two ago I don't think the cake would have bothered me (well, only a little). I really haven't been feeling deprived on this diet. I think it is some internal roadblock that I'm hitting.

Get thee behind me, oh carrot cake! I will not eat you.

I know for me I feel my weakest when the weight loss begins to slow. The problem with that is if I do give in, it'll only go back up. We all have our points of weakness. It's finding how to overcome them that is the biggest challenge. Try eating an early lunch if you can, followed by those yummy sounding blackberries. If you have some, try dipping in a little splenda for some extra sweetness. You are better than that cake. Look at when you went to your daughters graduation. You didn't cheat at all. And you don't have to start now.

Thanks for the encouragement, Keli! I'm not cheating! The 1/2 c of blackberries has lasted for three hours (I'm a hoarder rather than a binger by nature). I do think I will take myself out for a nice lunch even though my dining companion had to cancel and my normal inclination is to stay at my desk. A nice piece of fish & veg would be just the thing.
