I think I need to start paying more attention to my carb intake. ugh.

It's hard to say without seeing everything you're eating. I like to keep my macro nutrients to about 30% protein, 30% fat and 40% carbs, and that works pretty well for me, but of course everyone's different. I also try to focus on getting 'more protein' versus 'less carbs and fat.' It seems more positive to me that way :) Keep at it!
