Wake up call! My nutrionist wants me to cut my protein and fat by half. She wants me to do 4 days of cardio and only two days lifting. She says that I should scrap my 1300 and 2600 calorie days and just try to eat between 1800 and 2000 calories every day. She also hates all my processed foods. No more hot dogs and cold cuts. I was surprised honestly but I like the challenge. I meet with her in a month. Lets do this!

Good luck with the new plan. It actually sounds close to what I have been trying for, so let me know how it works for you.

I am so glad you were able to see a nutritionist - did she say why you should reduce the protein by half? Is it the quality of your protein she questions i.e., processed meats? I thought your calorie cycling was a good idea to trick the metabolism...but hey, I am no nutrition expert! LOL

You both are awesome! Thanks for the support. She just wants me to lower the weight because she is worried that if I stop going to the gym and dont keep up with the lifting I will get fat and while I am 50 pounds above my ideal weight and those pounds are a mix of muscle and fat she wants me to be closer to the 197. She said 220 would be fine. @HCB she wanted lower protein levels because she was afraid I would damage my kidneys and also she said too much protein could turn to fat. And yea she wants lean proteins. She wants me to be very picky with my protein.

Yes - I understand her point. Body Fortress Super Advanced Whey Protein Powder is very good and has many BCAA (amino acids) - My Walmart sells 2 Lb tub for only $15 - a good deal.

She's on point with processed foods. They typically have way too much sodium and/or carbohydrates. When it comes to weight maintenance, it's truly 80% diet and 20% exercise. The diet is your fuel. Find the right ratio for you and your body will respond accordingly and become more efficient. For me, it's a high protein, low carb diet. When I'm on point, my body responds immediately to it. Try out her plan and listen to your body. Check the mirror, check the scale, see how your clothes fit daily and take it from there. Good luck, bro!

I heard tonight from one of the trainers that I work with that excess protein can turn to fat and also to focus on the higher quality lean proteins. Sounds similiar to what you heard. :)

SO - I eat chicken, fish, shrimp, ground lean turkey, pork loin, protein powder, lowfat cheese, eggs, nonfat cottage cheese, white tuna in water, tofu, veggie dogs once in while - ARE these considered "good" proteins? I would guess, yes. What do you think?

Those were all the proteins she wanted me to eat. She said two fish a week because of the mercury but was a huge fan of Tuna and Salmon. I am going to show her your list next time I see her. So on my shopping list for next week is low fat cottage cheese, tuna, egg starts (liquid egg, no fat), chicken and turkey.

That would be great - so I know I am on the right track with protein. I have heard the stuff about too much protein storing as fat and being tough on kidneys to process. I think some of it is true but also may be a result of peopl who are the extremes like hardcore Atkins fans or super bodybuilders with supplements. I am unsure I would worry about my protein amounts or sources - but I could be wrong.
