Well, I won't record my weigh in today, but am making note of it here that it is 1.8 lbs higher than my weigh was three days ago. Ironically enough, it may have to do with the intense hike. Or maybe a coincidence, not sure. But last strenuous hike (Feb 14th) the same thing happened - I "gained" weight for the week following. So I think it's not actual fat gain, may be muscle gain, most likely it's the thing in Dr. Huizenga's book about strenuous exercise for formerly sedentary overweight/obese people, causes water to be held in the bloodstream, as well as well as muscle tissue, and still sends signals that you're dehydrated to the rest of the body. Which I take to mean I'm holding on to water weight and it will fall off. (it better) So I'm not going to get discouraged. Having a hard time getting my butt in the room to work out, but I'm on my way. I don't feel right when I don't exercise, so I may as well do it, right? And this book, Where Did All the Fat Go? is full of very good, useful information that helps motivate me. I know if I choose not to exercise, then I'm choosing to be fat. And I know I have to get healthy to lose weight. Seems like a contradiction in terms, but I think I see the validity of it. So my goal is to get healthy and I'm fairly confident the weight loss will follow. I know that if I don't exercise, according to my bodybugg, I don't burn many calories at all. Maybe 1850 or so. This book also had a statement in it alluding to a study that said that nearly all obesity is traced to an additional 100 calories a day. Amazing if true. It would sure explain how I managed to pack on so many pounds when I never really felt that I "pigged" out, other than occasionally. So if I ate close to 2,000 calories a day, maybe more with a glass or two of wine, it certainly explains things. So...off to exercise!
...okay, I did and I pushed myself even harder. Did 30 Day Shred (3), then Power Sculpt 1 & 3, then Cardio Max 1 & 3, and yoga cool down. Vacuumed a bit right after work out to help cool down and burned about 600 + calories during the work out. Good, I hope to keep this intensity up. Will add my exercise amounts in later using the bodybugg for calorie burn.
