Ginsin's Journal, 09 June 2016

Just had a "weak" moment -- not that it takes much for me to have one. A customer came to pick up her dog and brought cupcakes from Crave in Houston RAVED about them. Well, first let me just say that in 17 years of living in Louisiana this was the BEST cake I have eaten (EXCUSES, EXCUSES). I am not a big cake eater unless it came from a good bakery (back in NYC--and we had many good ones), don't eat twinkies or crap like that (rather eat cheese if I am going to "cheat"). I added as a 350 calorie cupcake since it was so decadent, I could see why they received award for Best Dessert. WOW! REAL BUTTERCREAM and VANILLA BEANS!!! I had just gotten back from the gym, but maybe tonight I will go again and try and burn some extra calories. I will say this, people are sweet and she meant well but one cupcake would have sufficed instead of the box of 6. She has carried on about how great I look, all the weight I have lost, and then SIX CUPCAKES!! I will give some to my groomer tomorrow. I hate that my husband HATES cake and cupcakes. Oi Vey!

Sounds like it was delicious, you can always pitch the rest. One wont kill you, its the other five lol. I always immediately throw away what i decide im not eating. Sure its kind of a waste, but at least its not on the waist ;) people mean well for the most part but we are a society that shows love with food.

Seconding throwing them away! I know I feel super wrong to throw away something like that, but I keep reminding myself that my mouth shouldn't be a garbage can for excess food, lol

Find others to give them away to. I gave an entire candy bouquet away at work on my birthday.

I wouldn't waste food someone gave you. That's wasting someone's money. I know I wouldn't be very happy if I found out someone wasted food I gave them. Simply share them. I am sure you can find someone who loves cupcakes. That shouldn't be too difficult. Next time if someone tries to give you a whole box of goodies politely tell them no or ask them if you can take just one. There is nothing wrong with telling someone no.

Well now we know (what I knew all along), a little sugar and I am out of control. Yeah, I froze the cupcakes, cut in half and put in freezer, eventually ate them. That would not be the end all, except it lead to me eating like 3 pints of ice cream this month. I ate one last night, I am done---for real!!! I am still at 252-4---teeter totering. Still been going to the gym. BUT DAMN!!! SUGAR IS A BEAST!!! The combo of sugar and fat combined, wow, what a drug for me.

One trigger can put me over the edge, what can I say! A day at a time for junkies like me, I lecture about sugar and bam, fell off the wagon.

Me, too, sister. I'm glad you pulled yourself back from the ledge.

Give them to the groomer for sure. Too bad you can't send them here because my husband LOVES cupcakes.

HCB -- The Beast Unleashed has taken new levels. I hate being a disappointment to myself and my buddies. I know it's all excuses as many will say, but working 7 days a week especially when the temperatures reach 114 can knock the hell out of anyone. Not making excuses, but it's certainly tougher in the mid 50s to do this type of work. WEll, the latest disaster has been not making it to work out and then I don't know how many pints of indulgent ice cream. I know, don't keep it at home---I don't! I have actually made stops at the store. Nights of no sleep with some pain (back to normal now) just brought it all to a head. All I can say is, back to trying to kick this nasty new habit.

For me, the problem comes when I taste the forbidden fruit and it is so delicious. Then, I would say "after this is gone, I will get back to my weight loss plan." Then the next serving is delicious, and the next, and it came to a point where I didn't want to stop, or I promised myself I would have it tonight and start the food plan tomorrow. At this point, I am addicted. I vary the stores I buy my binge food at, feeling shame with every purchase of the stuff. There came a miraculous day where I said, "No more!" And meant it. I hope that day comes soon for you.
