JDbowler's Journal, 24 February 2016

So, yesterday was a great informational meeting on bariatric surgery at Henry Ford Hospital. They have a great program. We went to the Barix clinic last month and I would say that their meeting was not as good. It seemed that they just wanted to push one surgery and made it sound better than it really was. My wife is still taking her time to decide where she wants to go, so we will see what happens soon. As for now, we will progress with knowledge from both meetings.

So, today I started taking a GNC supplement, GNC Burn 60. I need something to try to help give me a "boost", and this sounded pretty good. So far today, nothing too crazy. I will give it some time to see what happens.

Today I started doing less reps, and added on weight to my strength training. I'm sore, but it's a great sore. I need to keep this up. I think this will also help with the losing. I don't think I was pushing myself hard enough. I need to push harder.

Well, I hope all my FS friends, and all the FS followers have a great day. Talk to you all later.

Don't mean to rain on your parade, but have your wife ask the surgeons and gastro doctors how many of these bariatric surgeries produce gastroparesis. That's a potential byproduct of the stomach surgery and it's a terrible adventure. Doesn't happen often, but does happen. Weigh the options. As for your own weight loss adventure, I congratulate you. You are both capable adults and are looking forward, not just sitting watching the world go by. Kudos!

before you guys make your final decision please go to the dietdoctor.com and watch some of the videos there. A low carb diet will save you both from that surgery.

If you're already trying to go low-carb, might just see what Keto//OS can do. It's not designed as a weight-loss supplement, however it helps all around with curbing sugar cravings and leveling blood sugar that then results in more energy and generally good food choices which you can then adopt as a model for the rest of your life. I'm saying this because I'm on my 3rd month of it and it's made a profound impact in my everyday life and probably a better option than surgery.
