Egull1's Journal, 17 November 2023

I've been wanting to post this since last August, which was actually the Anniversary of 5 years of maintenance!!! My start weight was 210 lbs and the original goal weight was 150 lbs. I had no clue I was going to surpass that goal, which is why I keep it on my FS profile page. It's a wonderful testimony to what can happen when you don't give up :-) I would be remiss if there weren't some essential people who really helped provide me the tools and mindset for not only losing with maintenance in mind, but keeping the weight off once I hit goal.

And, Heather Robertson who runs and facilitates the Half Size Me community and has kept her 170 lbs off for over 10 years in mainly one of the folks I am most thankful for. I also need to thank the lady on this site who many, many, many years ago - randomly directed me to Heather's podcasts when she read one of my journals discussing how I felt maintenance was the issue, the problem, and the solution to the excess weight dilemma. Heather was a godsend and I owe so much to her with regards to tools, approaches, and ESPECIALLY mindset.

Please excuse my crazy hair and "wake up" face in the recent photo. I just shot that one earlier this morning so my brain and body is still a bit out of sorts, LOL! Anyhow, cheers to 5 years and many, many more! I am by no means an expert at maintenance, but if anyone has any questions about tools and approaches - I will do my best to answer. Have a wonderful, blessed Friday everyone!

Awww, Diana! You are an inspiration to me! I'm not sure I could have met the challenges you've faced these past few months with as much grit and patience as you've had. I'm just so thankful you're on the mend and doing well, it truly warms my heart! @wifey - If I'm correct, Heather Robertson still works out of Florida. She does both a podcast, facilitates a community group called HSM community, and provides individual weight loss/maintenance Coaching. Her mission and approach is "losing with maintenance in mind". She also has youtube videos that can be extremely helpful in working through self sabotaging behavior. She does not sell a weight loss program. We had tons of folks in our group using all kinds of approaches. Her aim is that whatever approach one is using - it is both sustainable and maintainable, both in weight loss and after one hits their goal. For example & per her suggestion - I actually took maintenance breaks while I was losing weight --> NOT DIET BREAKS --> But, actual maintenance breaks where I practiced maintaining a weight range for about ten days every 14 weeks. I didn't eat above or below maintenance calories for whatever weight I was at. This allowed my metabolism a break, but it also taught me what maintaining a weight range felt and looked like. Which is important, since I will be spending more time in maintenance than I did losing the weight. It was so nice to hit that goal and have a plain and strategy all set up for me to transition into and more importantly one I had already practiced while losing! It's been a huge part of this girl's success thus far.

Congratulations 🎊 I am very impressed I would like more info. The truth is I have been one like a yo-yo all my life. I do good and then something happens in my life and in stead of me taking control it controls me. Thank you for sharing !!
