Did not feel like working out yesterday... especially since I skipped my cardiac rehab class and replaced it with a 90 minute deep tissue massage (it was worth it). But, I was so relaxed, I did not want to get all tense again on a heavy leg day (which isn't really that heavy... but for me it is). Massage was over at 9:30, so I busied myself with work and other things until I mentally made myself go to the gym. Supposed to start with squats, but somebody was on the only squat rack. That was my excuse to make it a cardio day and go home.. but I didn't. I started with the ab section of the workout instead, and by the time I was done, the rack was free... dang it! Begrudgingly did the workout and actually squatted 135 lbs 8X on my last set. This does not seem like a lot for a 200 lb man, considering I was squatting 315 lbs 10x on my last set in high school, when I weighed a mere 155 lbs. But in light of the fact that I had open heart surgery 12 weeks ago, and was only squatting with a 45 lb bar before my surgery, I feel really good about 135 lbs!

Chest feels good even with all the weight lifting and cardio I am doing. Nerve endings tingle every now and again but nothing that I am concerned about. I notice that while my scale weight has not changed noticably in the 4 weeks I have been working out, I can actually see the top 4 ab muscles.. without flexing. I could not see them even when I got down to 195 in November of last year. Oddly enough, it makes my love handles look bigger? I know you cannnot spot reduce fat, but I guess my body is burning off fat from the upper abs before it starts on the lower ones :0)

Feeling a bit sad today, but also feeling very blessed. An aquaintance of 25 years died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday. How easily that could have been me. I was eating out for breakfast and lunch for almost 20 years. Now, I want to jump out of the car when near a fast food place and scream, "Stop! It's a trap! Don't eat it!" It is "fast" food... it makes you die faster!
