Weighing daily is a trap. Weight normally fluctuates from day to day and if you weigh every day you will be confused and frustrated. A better method is to weigh once a week on the same day and time each week. Generally, people weigh more later in the day than in the morning, so set your goal to weigh first thing in the morning on the same day of each week.

I'm gonna say yes! Although lately, I wish I didn't! I am up and I am mad about it! So lately my daily weigh in is pretty frustrating. But over the course of the last 2 years - YES! Weighing every day helps me to stay on track. It helps me to remember my goals and supports my success (when I have them - lol)

I weigh every morning and look at myself in the mirror as a reminder that I’m not where I want to be, but also to see the progress I am making. I take time to appreciate my body and all that it does for me. I reassure my body that I will treat it better going forward. Every choice I make throughout the day, I think what would a healthy/fit/strong (whatever it is your goal to be) person do. I find it really helpful when I am craving junk. I also recommend to find healthier ways of making your favorite comfort foods. So long that you are making healthy choices, don’t stress the numbers themselves. Use them to learn more about your body; ie, if you might be retaining water and need to cut your sodium intake, if you are gaining weight because you are putting on muscle, or if your weight is up because of your monthly cycle. To me, the number on the scale serves as a visual that helps me make healthier decisions throughout the day. Once I am adjusted into the routine of eating better and exercising, I will drop down to weighing once a week. I’m currently in the stage where I can’t let myself get comfortable and return to my old ways, so I need that constant reminder of what my goal is.

No. I find that if my weight is up that day (even if it’s a small variation due to water weight or whatever) I become disappointed and say “$&@* it” and use it as an excuse to fall off the wagon and pig out on a cheeseburger. I am currently only weighing monthly.

I have to in the beginning. After Im in a good groove and consistently losing I can drop it down to a couple times per week.

I do it out of habit. People who do nut u derstand the digestive process and become freaked out over every little time click up on the scale. There are many variables such as what kind of foods you ate yesterday, how late at night you ate, how much salt you ate, hoe little potassium you ate, how much water you drank, last time you had a good bowel movement, and for women, the effects of your body hormones, excessive working out. People who do not comprehend these issues and become suicidal over a .2 lb gain should probably not weigh everyday

Since weight can change daily, I feel more motivated when I weigh on Sunday mornings.

For me it depends on my mindset. If I'm doing well i will weigh myself, and losing that day motivates me more to keep trying the next day. Sometimes if i know i ate too much salt and didn't take my water retention herbs I'll skip that day knowing the scale will temporarily go up. 😂 but last week, i tried some new things and was within my calorie range but after a 10 lb loss instead of just a plateau, i gained 0.6 and 0.8 the next day. With no reason. If i was only weighing myself weekly i wouldn't have caught my body fighting back and the new things not working. Instead of giving up, it made me go back to a more strict plan that always works and i quickly went back down. So if a gain will upset you and make you give up, everyday is bad. If daily helps you understand how your body works and gains make you try harder, it can be a motivating thing.

Yes, I'm in maintenance. It's easy to get off track. I need to be able to spot trends before they become a problem...

Yes because my weight fluctuates so much it’s better to view the collective trend. I also do measurements daily.

Kenna and Cindy make some good points. It depends on whether you really understand the process of losing/gaining weight and how it doesn't happen overnite.

I weigh in right before bed, every day. I lift weights every other day, so it helps me chart my fat losses vs lean gains.
