Kenna Morton's Journal, 08 December 2022

Another piece of useless information for you all. One of my cooking magazines did a taste test of about 6 hot cocoa mixes including Starbucks, TJ, WF. The wilnner was Ghirardelli’s ,followed by Swiss Miss with Marshmellows and holding the last spot was Walmart’s Great Value Line. Just thought you all might want to know which brand Santa Should put in your stockings this year.

Have you ever tried stephens hot cocoa? Not too bad. And Milo is a good one, different in that you add the sugar to what you like. Milo best with milk.

I've been using Aubuelita Mexican Style Hot Chocolate, in the tablet form.

Aubuelita for me as well but I do like Ghirardelli’s. Don’t actually drink it too often, but Christmas is an exception. I love eggnog but that is just to calorie dense.

I don't like hot or cold chocolate milk. Not even as a kid...if only that was true for bread & potatoes too😄

I was thinking about getting the premium version with this app but after i read this post i am thinking not. I see too many junk food statements and i feel doomed about losing any weight. Does anyone pay for the premium version? Is it worth paying for? Someone please help me decide. Everything is getting quite expensive so if i waste $50 this next year on the app..i still have to pay for the foods it recommends. ❓

Tinytot12– what other people eat has no bearing on what you eat. There are many people here who have been “dieting” for years with poor long term success. there are also a number of people who work really hard to lose their pounds but have not mastered the concept of life style change as being the secret to successfully managing maintenance. Deprivation just does not work. Learning to eat healthier most of the time and making less desirable choices just once in a while is truly the magic bullet. I did a trial of the premium version of FS and decided it wasn’t necessary.

I don’t drink instant commercial cocoa often but when I do, like in a hotel, I do like either of the top two. At home I make up a concoction of my own that has a vanilla protein powder, unsweetened cocoa and SWERVE. It’s really good.

Kenna - thank you for your reply. I have off & on used this app for almost a decade but was quite thin when I started. Had a bad report at my Dr office today and it was upsetting to actually hear the truth about my need for a diet change. I probably won’t pay for this service but continue using the free version. What it all boils down to is just Will Power ❤️

A certain amount of self control is certainly necessary but what you really need to come to grips with is understanding that you CAN have a cookie, a small piece of cake or pie, a scoop of ice cream, but not all of them at the same time. No need to punish yourself, starve, be miserable. This is a lifelong practice that eventually just becomes habit— that is the goal. A well developed habit that you no longer even have to think about. You can do this. I have mentored many people in the last 40 years on this journey of controlling their weight by reigning in their eating habits while still being able to enjoy some of the fun foods. And I am happy to say there has been a 100% success rate— not because of anything I did except open the door to a new way of thinking about food. They all took the ball and ran with it. And no weight regains over the years. And you do have to include a more active lifestyle into that equation. You do not have to become a gym rat— create fun activities that include other people and/or your kids. Make it fun.
