Grief is unpredictable and inconsistent; it just helps to ride it when it happens bc postponing it (or denying it) can turn into other stuff you don't need or want. I feel for you and hope you know there are people out here who care and who will help you process the feelings as they arise. I send you warmth and strength.

What SSICW said.. especially the bit about burying emotions. I am a living testament to that fact.

No words, just sending hugs or whatever you need (that's not illegal in the Continental United States) 😆

Part 2: Because sometimes we need a little bit of sarcastic (and the winter sunset is messing with us...right)? Sending hugs

Men are human beings too. Crying exists for a good reason. Feel the grief, it’s a sh*tty situation. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry. 💔 Please don't talk about or to yourself that way. Echoing what SoftLife2022 said. Be very kind to yourself.

Take care of yourself, find a therapist if needed, and when you're ready forgive him and yourself if need be.

Who the hell gave you pictures of your lifeless father. Was that really necessary? And I thought I was insensitive . Sorry someone did that to you.

Years ago I was running the medic radio in a big trauma center. One of the calls I picked up was for an at home full arrest. The patient had my dad’s first and last name— the whole time I was running the call I thought it was calling the shots on my own dad. Was I relieved when they came rolling through the door.

So sorry. No shame in crying though, you’re human. We have tear ducts for a few reasons. Prayers for comfort, healing and better days ahead. ❤️🙏

Thank you for your comments, guys. I'm sure most of you have lost a loved one and have gone through my pain and more. I can't imagine losing a close loved one. I was staying strong as a RN and making sure he was well taken care of and explaining everything to the family as I do with all my patients. I wasn't expecting it to hit me so hard since I barely knew the man, but it finally did. And he still fought for over 24hrs after removing all support. So sad.

Hadn't seen my birth mom since I was 3 years old. Losing her still hits me 21 years later at the oddest times. Please don't discount your connection to your dad. Your loss is real. Prayers for your healing process.
