I'm about to go in for my workout, but wanted to report that I'm in GREAT spirits! As far as health and food and exercise are concerned, anyway!

I feel better today than I have in a while and I know it's the MENTAL aspect of having done a fast, not the physical part (although it was nice to go to bed last night without feeling bloated). I won't be using fasting as a weight control tool, though. Not that it doesn't work, because it very well may. I just feel that using fasting as a means of controlling weight means I'm "white-knuckling" it, that I still overeat and "pay for it" by fasting - denying myself food. That may be the wrong way to look at it, but that's sort of how I view it. For me, it really was all about regaining a sense of control over food. Does this distinction make any sense?

Regardless... it's a new week for me, a new leaf, a new lease on life, a new sense of renewal and motivation. :D

...later

Worked out, did Jillian's Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism, and the 10 min. thin thigh workout. Total about an hour. :) Gonna shower, hit Costco, pick up some fresh veggies and... who knows what all??

...later

extended the fast to include today. Still had my coffee with creamer, a celcius and some fiber gummies. But no food. I AM eating tomorrow, though :) Think I've "proven" something to myself.

RWL, you sound wonderful...what prompted you to decide to fast? Anything in particular? We are going to be doing the 30 hour fast on May 6th and 7th for World Vision. It is in an effort tot raise money to help feed the starving of the world. Great job with the exerise. I really think that you wold benefit from reading The Primal Blueprint. It is so full of such great scientific info about what we eat and how it affects our bodies and our minds. Hope you were able to find lots of great fruits and veggies for you consumption! Hugs and love my friend! <3<3<3<3

when I fast I always get a headache. I did fast one day when I was on a spiritual retreat and climbed a mountain. You always inspire me to work out. Glad you're having a great day.

Thanks, ctlss... I am feeling wonderful! The fast actually happened almost by accident. I woke up feeling disgusted (once again) with my out of control eating and so tired of feeling so bad about myself. I wasn't hungry, so I just did my morning stuff, then worked out, showered and went shopping. By the time I was driving home, it was about 5:30 and I hadn't eaten anything yet, so figured, hey, why not try a fast? I only have to make it another 5 hrs or so, try to sleep early. So it wasn't pre-planned, but decided to go with it. When I felt SO good yesterday and really wasn't hungry, I decided to do my workout anyway. Then did stuff around here, showered, and went to Costco. Again, it was 5:30 or 6:00 when I got home and hadn't eaten, so thought, why not? Do two days. I still felt great anyway. My husband didn't get home until nearly 8:00 anyway, so I just made a plate of food for him, sat and drank some lemonade (just lemons, water and stevia, with a couple strawberries sliced up in the pitcher). Yesterday was slightly more planned - when I'd skipped breakfast and still worked out I started thinking to do it. Like I said, I don't want to use this as a means of weight control, more of "mind" control! lol... Now, fasting for spiritual reasons? Now THAT'S different and that makes sense. I actually did read a little about the book (not the book, itself) and although basically I agree with its premise and it DOES make sense in most ways, the only thing I take issue with is that our lifestyles are nowhere near what they were way back when. We lead such sedentary lives compared to our ancestors. So I would think this would mean we would require slightly different nutrient combinations. I was a little surprised, however, to find the amount of protein was relatively small. I've read that for weight lifting or strength training, .7/grams per pound of body weight is about the bare minimum one should go. But I'm lucky if I get 90 grams of protein in, anyway. Once I get back to my goal weight (125), it will be 87 or 88 grams, I think. lol... I guess that means on a good day, I am sort of following that diet! But yes, I should actually read the book. Oh, and I did find lots of great fruits and veggies yesterday. A bit TOO much - I doubt we'll be able to eat it all before it goes bad. That's the problem - I see so many great deals and end up with too much! Oh, I'm not a juice drinker, but Naked Juice has a green one that is full of veggies and is delicious. Costco carries that brand and I bought a couple of containers of that, too. mmmm... Thanks for the love and hugs! Right back at you! <3 <3 <3 <3

Hi Multiplicity! Thank you, I haven't felt inspiring for such a long time! I think I'm nearly back - at least, I'm thinking about working out every day. Haven't yet today, but think I'll actually take care of a few things, start getting ready for my ladies' wine night tomorrow and THEN workout. Oh, I didn't get a headache at all from fasting. Maybe it was the coffee! Take care!
