stumaniak's Journal, 11 April 2009

For breakfast today, I had a vegan omelette with walnuts, sumac, cranberries, lamb's quarters, chives, onions and bell pepper. The problem is, I can't find nutritional info for sumac or lamb's quarters. The sumac was probably negligible, and I guess I could put in spinach instead.

Found lambs quarters and added it. Still no results for sumac, though...

what are lamb's quarters?!? I know they aren't what they sound like if you had them in an omelette!

Lambs quarters is an edible weed that tastes a bit like swiss chard or spinach. Its sometimes called goosefoot and grows wild at the edges of fields and in gardens

The "eggs" were mostly Ener-G egg replacer, beaten and colored with turmeric and corn meal. The lambs quarters grows wild all over the place in my yard since I planted it several years ago, and the chives are also wild in my yard. I bet some basil will pop up wild too in a month or two but it hasn't shown up yet.
