Second day on FS. Have been listening to Denise Minger and Abel James this morning on YouTube. OMG makes so much sense. She is saying that we are each different genetically and that is why one person does wonderful on Paleo and another person doesn't. She also says that the food pyramid that was developed originally was modified by the USDA to make the foodstamp program more cost effective. When something doesn't make sense, follow the money! I have thought this for years. I have friends that eat burgers and french fries everyday for lunch and they are not overweight or can eat pasta pasta pasta. I eat pasta I gain weight but if I have a dinner of steak and veggies I step on scale the next morning I have lost weight. As I have gotten older I am prediabetic and there are so many people in my family that are already diabetics being treated with medication. The typical prescribed diet for diabetics makes no sense to me allowing 50 carbs per meal? I eat like that I feel lousy! I am going to try to listen to my body more and see what makes me feel how, how I am sleeping, energy level, aches and pains. I slept pretty well for 7 hours. Am having aches and pains in night that cause me to wake up periodically but I go right back to sleep. Night before last, terrible leg and foot cramps. Lately my energy level has not been great. My legs have felt sluggish. Also my brain has been malfunctioning - I forget more things, am easily distracted, fail to focus. Normally I like to walk and have been trying to increase the number of steps I take each day. Although I am not any where near where I was when I started generally a couple thousand to four thousand a day, I am not where I need to be. I have been averaging about six thousand a day. My goal is to be at an average of 10,000 per day by end of year. Having more fat in my diet has made my skin look and feel better. Am going to analyze my food journal each day and try to determine what works for me and what does not. I need to focus on my health to make my senior years truly golden and not rusted broken tin. LOL
