achick120's Journal, 10 April 2014

The last 20 or so pounds are so difficult. I think the regular weight for me is between 120-130, but I have been having a tough time getting back down there (well I guess I don’t try that hard). However, since my highest weight a few years ago, I always return to around 145 and while I have reached 135 I never get below it.

I think the reason I don’t gain even more weight is because I do eat a lot of healthy food. But when I snack, I go all out (extreme personality…. a lot of my issues with food relate to this) and eat a ton. No control really.

The hardest thing for me right now is the emotional/stress eating. Does anyone have any tips for this? Or have you overcome emotional eating. I try to ride it out, sometimes I succeed, sometimes I fail miserably.

Yes .I hear you! I have been on an emotional roller coaster for 4 months. My diet was very good up until then. I just think, we have to distract ourselves, go for a walk..... anything else, but don't eat!!! Then if you do end up eating, be strong and choose a healthy snack. Fresh strawberries are great, they are sweet, have low cals and are great for shifting fat! You dont have a lot to lose.... so keep going! ☆☆☆

It's tough to get that last bit off. I'm trying to do that now, about 25 or so pounds. I too have been an emotional eater in the past; so far during the last 11 months I have not had a big emotional upset of any kind that threatened my balance, just small everyday ones that I've mostly managed to overcome. My job is most stressful during the Oct-Jan period, but I'm also more physically active then so that may have helped even if I did overeat. I will only be able to say that I hope when that first "big" thing hits, I'm prepared not to eat my feelings or misery/grief. I'll only know if I'm ready when it actually happens.

I was stress eating for the past 2 months after making a decision to put my 6 month old kitten to sleep. I was regretting the decision & stress eating over it. When I was doing good I ate a lot of green grapes ( I like the crunch as well as the sweet), also sugar free dubble bubble, watermelon, strawberries, walking, running :o), shopping/browsing the mall or thrift store shopping (which I love). Best of luck to you

I have the same black/white attitude with snacking (we also have about the same point at which we can't seem to lose past... 135! Go figure!) Once I start I don't stop :( I try to satisfy nighttime snacking with frozen grapes (for sweet tooth) or seaweed snacks from Trader Joes (for salty)...

I just had 2 packets of seaweed. Different flavors, terryaki and spicy and drank 2 cups of water. The spiciness and changing flavors seemed to have d one the trick todayt. I find it helps to have several choices available. Sometimes grape tomatoes work. They are 1 calorie each and after eating 30 or so, my need to snack is gone. On the mental front, sometimes I argue with the Emotional eating monster as if it is someone I must fight to win. I don't always win, but often I do. J
