Miss Kitteh's Journal, 11 February 2014

Got two hours of sleep last night. Not fit to go to the gym today. When I don't sleep I want to eat to make up for the stress, so I have to be careful about caloric intake today. Looking for a good sleep tonight and back to the gym tomorrow. Why is losing weight like fuel prices -- the numbers take forever to drop but go up in a heartbeat?

Dang. That analogy is sooo correct! Hope you get a good sleep. Lack of sleep just messes with everything.

My question is why do we forget how hard it was to lose the weight when we allow ourselves to gain it all back.

I think most of us have read that we should only weigh ourselves once a week rather than daily when we're losing weight. Personally I think that's bogus, but that's another issue. I read recently that the key to keeping weight off is to weigh yourself every day AFTER you have taken the weight off. I think it's an excellent idea.

Even better than weighing every day is to also use a 10-day moving average to plot your weight. It gets rid of the daily spikes and shows your weight loss trend.

The problem with weighing yourself everyday is your body weight is to inconsistent to read the scale as truth. Water weight and waste weight both fluctuate daily and have an impact on what you see on the scale. Once a week is plenty, why would you want to put that much stress on yourself daily.
