Have had bronchitis for almost two weeks. Taking antibiotics and hoping I may resume my workouts next week. I have been using the Calorie Counter application from Fat Secret since about 11/1/10, and have dropped below 215 consistently, but not quite getting below 210 yet. Of course, my daughter had twins 12/14/10 after 4 weeks bed rest, and my wife and I have been helping out with the two other children, ages 4 and 2, and now 2 more! I'm pleased I have maintained, and even lost some over the holidays.
I have a personal trainer who has been central in my efforts, and he recommended counting calories as a basic method of controlling weight. He said to use a form XSport has to record meals. Well, I have ADHD. I cannot maintain anything if it is too much trouble. But, since I have an iPod Touch and an iPad, I looked for an app. Calorie Counter exceeded my hopes! Recording what you eat is a major tool in losing weight. The database is huge, and the ease of finding foods is amazing. I haven't seen anything like it! And starting off daily using a base level of calories for just sleeping and resting is great. Actual activities like workouts or even normal activities can be input which replace resting calories. I have never understood not taking these into account, but I didn't know how. The app shows the way. To sum up, I am under control due in large measure to Fat Secret's app!
