Seventeen years ago, I was restructured out of my job, and was unemployed for 9 months. We knew God would put us in the place He wanted us to be, and knew it might be financially better or worse than before. Okay, as long as we were in His Will. God provided a better job with better opportunity than I could have imagined!

Sixteen years ago we moved from Greenville, SC to Naperville, IL to take a Director of Benefits position with Robert Bosch Corporation, later Robert Bosch LLC.

Began last year at 233 lbs, and lost down to 216 before Holidays. Gained back to consistent ~222 lbs. Retired May 1st 2010, and determined to be active again (used to run about 45 miles a week in my 40s and 50s).
Finally, signed up with a personal trainer my wife wasusing at XSport, Tom. He stresses all aspects of fitness, and after a couple of hours discussion with me, said we would first work on balance and cardio fitness, then strength. He had me begin to journal my food intake, and I have begun, being totally honest. I began to lose weight immediately, even though Tom said to be concerned with inches, not weight. Its working.

I will add more later, because I have been cut off 3 times and am tired!!

4 Hour Body
I just began to (1) 30+ gm of protein w/in 30 minutes of rising w/o reducing anything, (2) finish showers with several minutes of cold water (progressively colder). This is from the "4 Hour Body" by Tim Ferris.

Cool app /website
Hi! I have an iPad (and iPod Touch) also, and have been using the app for over 2 months. I have lost about 15 lbs since then, and the reasons I haven't lost more isn't the apps fault! Just be conscientious and honest recording your "intake" and that will naturally lead you to think about what you are going to eat, and if it is worthwhile.

Resting and Sleeping as Exercise?
Some heart monitors / watches have a calorie counting element during the time it is measuring your heart rate. I wore mine actively measuring for 24 hours on a normal day and burned over 4,000 calories (I weigh 211 lbs). However, I cannot eat 4,000 calories and not gain weight, so I don't really understand how it works. I just use the numbers generated for foods and exercise and it works. My monitor comes up with the same calories burned for the same exercises as Fat Secret, so that works. It generally works that if I eat less than I burn, by about 800 calories, I lose weight.
