Today has been a very stressful day... and because of that I havent eaten much. I guess thats a good and a bad thing.
But when i logged into Fatsecret today, something caught my attention. So I'd like to give a special thanks to sararay for posting this great little find-[!!!] a way to easily calculate your BMR.
For those of you who havent already done this, try it out.
heres the link!

See, i've always wondered what mine was, and kinda always assumed it was 2,000. Assuming this, I would try to get 1500-1700 calories a day. But, i would also burn anywhere from 500-700 during work outs.
I dont count calories, persay, I just keep a mental note. Somedays, i barely get up to 1000. My boyfriend bugs me about this all the time, and tells me I dont eat enough.
I remember when i used to do this, exercise EVERY day, and i wouldnt lose any weight! i was so, so frustrated.

But upon reading this paragraph and finding out this new info, it all makes perfect sense now.

"You expend energy no matter what you're doing, even when sleeping. Thus your Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories you'd burn if you stayed in bed all day - a tempting idea for some. If you've noticed that every year, it becomes harder to eat whatever you want and stay slim, you've also learned that your Basal Metabolic Rate decreases as you age. Likewise, depriving yourself of food in hopes of losing weight also decreases your BMR, a foil to your intentions. However, a regular routine of cardiovascular exercise can increase your BMR, improving your health and fitness when your body's ability to burn energy gradually slows down."

I now know that I need to take it easier than i have been. I've learned that my body NEEDS rest. Having higher calories days than some and not exercising EVERY day for hours is okay!!
I remember when i couldnt log onto fatsecret and i would exercise for hours everyday. I had become so obsessed with exercising that if i went a day without it, i felt like an ugly, fat, disgusting failure.

On friday, i did a great 800 calorie work out.
On saturday, i didnt do anything.
on sunday I did 20 mins of cardio and 30 mins of toning and stretches
And yesterday i did 30 mins of cardio and about 20 of toning
Today, i think i might go for a long walk. But i dont have a set goal on calories to burn.

I very much enjoy this 'vacation' i've given myself.
And I hope everyone knows its okay to take a break, sometimes.

Have a wonderful day, everyone! :]

definitely..the benefits of rest are vast when it comes to muscle repair (more muscle = faster metabolism = more fat burned). I even take a rest week every 2 weeks and manage to lose weight without any exercise.
