Pretty good workout, considering I haven't had a workout since Wed. Did Cardio Max 1 and No More Trouble Zones - about 75 min. As one of my good buddies on here has pointed out, I may become bored with a workout or my body is too used to the moves and I may not get as much benefit from the workout as in the beginning, so I've ordered more DVD's (your fault, SQ : ) - Yeah, like I don't love shopping anyway, especially from the comfort of my own sofa). I ordered Body by Jake - Total Body Workout, and Kathy Smith Matrix Method - Ultimate Scult, and one more Biggest Loser DVD - Last Chance Workout. So hopefully they will add more variety and interest. I'm thinking about looking for a DVD I used to work out to for the selec-tech dumbbells we have. I still think I ought to have more muscle definition by now than I do, and I'm still not able to do more than maybe 10 real push-ups, in spite of all the planks, etc. I've done.
I think the thyroid medicine might be helping in some areas, but I still feel like I could feel better than I do. We'll see, I'll have another blood test in a couple of weeks to see where my levels are and see if she'll adjust it any further.
Going to CA in 2 1/2 weeks for probably a week or so. Lots of things going on there, but mainly we are going to have our dad's ashes interred next to our mom. And I'll be seeing a sister I haven't seen since we lost our mom in '02 due to a lot of weird stuff that occurred following our mom's passing. I think we're all okay now, but it'll be the first time the five of us will be together since that time. And my other sister is dealing with FMS and is likely to be having a diagnosis of MS, as well. Waiting for the MRI, and took her two weeks to finally get it scheduled due to hassles with insurance. So she's majorly stressed, naturally, and has this other to deal with at the same time. And one of my brothers will be going thru a divorce at this time, but for whatever reasons, he's asked me not to tell the other siblings and I have to respect his decision whether I agree with it or not. So it's going to be a period of high stress and emotions, plus I'll be out of my element again and will hopefully manage to workout sometime during that period. I can walk, but walking doesn't really burn fat. Great for the heart, no doubt, but just isn't an effective fat-burner according to the doctor for the biggest loser. I think I believe it as I've seen many, many overweight everyday walkers. But my sister doesn't have a/c and that's where I'll be staying - well, between her place and my other brother's who also doesn't have a/c. Middle of June is sometimes really hot in So Cal, other times not so much. I'm hoping for cool mornings, at least : )

I had a rough time when my Dad died. He was married to my Mom for more than 50 years but his new wife wouldn't let him be buried with her. He was cremated and his ashes scattered at my brother's church instead. It was painful. Sounds like your trip will be pretty emotional. Your discussion of walking not burning fat was helpful because I need incentive to start doing my DVD's...

Sounds like it's going to be a rough couple of weeks. Is hubby going with you, for support? It's always easier if you have a sympathetic ear to talk to. Shame you can't work out while you are there (another great stress buster). Just a thought, but how about a temporary / casual gym membership? The (public) pool where I swim has an on-site gym that is also available to the public. I assume: I've not actually inquired or seen the place. ______________________ Walking has got to be better than nothing, even to just get you out of the house (more stress relief). Apparently my sister dropped kilos just by progressively increasing the distance she walked to and from the train every day. But I reckon she also seriously dieted: from obese to so skinny I didn't recognise her from the back in a few months is not attained by walking an hour a day.
