09 January 2012

Wow....not surprised I was still up there at 127. I really did lose myself during the holidays....this is after a week of phase 1/2, so I had a lot of crap to get rid of in my body just for starters. I hope this week I can move into starting to see some fat storage depleted. I'm using alternate and IP products and more real food, so I'm ok with this going at a slower pace. I'm trying to eat more natural products and use the packaged stuff like bars and cold cereals for quick meals/snacks on the go, so I can stay on track, especially when I'm traveling the last 2 weeks of January.
This is a tough time for me on a lot of levels and I can see the urge for emotional eating is lurking. I'm not quite in that "bubble" I was in when I did the program first time around, so I'll have to talk myself down here and there when the urge to overeat comes over me. I think I'm depressed about the weight gain and really freaked about gaining it all back and being in a yoyo syndrome...like forever. It scares the crap outta me.
I have to meet someone for lunch today and I know the brisk walk in the chilly NY air will perk me up and change my mood. Anyway...that's where I'm at right now. Later will be better I'm sure. Mornings are just like for me sometimes. Not much to do but talk it and walk it off!

On day 7 of IP January re-boot. I'm doing a slightly, but not much modified ph 1. Egg whites instead of the IP packaged omelettes. Adding leftover dinner veggies or fresh and my usual 2 cups of coffee.
I've been having either caesar salad lunches or IP soups with salads.
While I was on IP the first time I did not use the protein bars until I had almost reached my goal. This time, I crave them and don't feel I could be doing this without them, so I'm using Nashua Nutrition Healthsmart bars which are very similar in nutritional composition AND whatever I have leftover from IP. I love my poppyseed lemon protein bars from IP. Have not yet found another brand with similar nutritional comp. If you read this and have found something similar let me know.
So far so good. I feel like (and believe me I'm knocking on wood, because this is SO one day at a time for me) I got a nice rhythm going and will be strict until next Saturday when I go on a 2 week visit with family, but will be very mindful of my intake. Fortunately, most of my family are kind of fitness/food geeks, so it won't be that difficult to resist sugar and alcohol, which are my deadly combination. I want to have lost my extra maintenance weight before I go, so I am ahead of the game. I don't weigh in until Monday, but I think I'll be well on my way by then, and still have the following week to nail it!
I realize I need to look at the January re-boot as a yearly part of my maintenance, so If I have gained up to 10 lbs. back, I can take it off every year, rather than let it get back to 40 lbs!!!! All in all, a way better choice than having to start dieting full on all over again.

It's interesting..I'm at the year anniversary of when I started the Ideal Protein diet and find myself doing a phase 1,2,3 combo of eating to lose an extra 5-6 lbs and keep myself at the weight I felt most comfortable at. I think this time of year will always have that same feeling for me of when that light switch went on and my mind was ready to lose the weight finally. It's a great feeling to have such a strong positive anchor in my mind. I was going to wait until January to do a 2 week reboot, but I started buying product again to stay on track and have for quick meals or snack, and next thing you know...I'm doing a mix of protocol and a little bit of real life wingin' it. Maybe this is the way for me to maintain in the real world, and whenever I get off track, this is a great way to come back to balance.
