Le Tour de France...
jour 1:
If only i could cycle half as good as the pro's...
Today i made a route of 6.75 km (half the tour distance) and i cycled as fast as i could. I made a time of 13 minutes and 47 seconds.
that is 30.07 km/h (im flabergasted!) or if i had cycled their distance it would have taken me 27 minutes and 32 seconds... any way you put it, i can proudly say i cycle about half as good as the pro's ...
tour starts at 13:55 (french time)
all go see how well i did compared to the pro's!
love maud.
ps: these numbers where measured on a stopwatch (pressed at the start and looked at at the finish), the route was planned on google-maps and probably was a little bit longer. The route had a slight incline where as the tour has no incline today. And finally i met a stupid cardriver halfway that parked his car right in front of me on the cycle-path that might have costed me several seconds but i was also angry after that, so maybe i was faster because of it, we will never know.

The day before the "Grand Départ : Utrecht"
You have not heard from me in a while and that is because i was training hard (almost 5 hours a day) according to the VO2-test i have improved my health substantially: VO2 max increased from 35.6 to 40.4!
I am about to set out to the gym for a light hour run. And tomorrow the real challenge will begin.
since it is extremely hot in holland i will ride the timetrial at 6 o'clock in the morning. My challenge is to ride half the distance the tourriders have to ride, so that means only 6.75 km. I should be able to finish within 15 minutes (*lol*)
I am ready for my challenge, bring it on!!!
love maud.

Looking forward to the tour!
Im ready with my training, so from now until the 4th of juli i have some fun challenges planned but no stress... So when i woke up yesterday with a strained neck i did not panick, because my trainingschedule could handle an extra day or two off...
I am really looking forward to riding the tour, and i hope that the second week will be a beautyful weather so my husband and kid will go camping and leave me alone ;)
I also hope my friends dont drop in all the time and leave me alone too.
well we shall see... i just know it will be a nice tour, and i will keep you posted... My favorite runner is ready too according to his facebook pace.
i even look forward to the two challenges i set myself after the tour... but ill tell you all about that later!
love maud.

The (wo)man with the plan:
I have had a little take-back-easy week, and tomorrow i start my last three weeks of training for "le tour". My aim is to be able to cycle for 5 hours straight maintaining a 25 km/h average (cycle 125 km in 5 hours, outside) or keep a average HR of 150 for 5 hours (indoor).
tomorrow my start-up training, 1 hours jogging, 1 hour of kick-fit(boxing),1/2 hour of core and 1 or 2 hours of zenn-horse-back-riding.
then monday a great route planned of 100 km, my aim is to do that within 4 hours. If i make that, i can extend the ride next week to 5 hours with an average of 20 km/h ... if not, i will retry the 100 next week...
sofar so good guys... maybe i should get myself sponsorred for a good cause or something... what do you think?
love maud.
