05 December 2015

Well .. the end of today will be my first week since who knows when of being cookie free. There has also been a HUGE reduction in my milk consumption this week as well. No cookies = no need for something to dunk them in.

What have I enjoyed most about my first week of LCHFing it? BACON!!! something I've been denying myself for years

What have I enjoyed least about my first week of LCHFing it? Trying to figure out what to eat .. but so far I've learned that if I've been denying myself of it -- <insert denied foods here> -- then I can probably have it on this diet.

NOTE: when i use the term "diet" I mean "the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats" ... NOT the kind of diet that a person goes on temporarily and then goes back to eating garbage again. I've been working on making this lifestyle change for many years. I tried this way of doing it and that way of doing it and have finally stumbled onto something that not only works .. but that I actually enjoy (once I figure out what to eat).

Now looking up deviled eggs .. cuz I've denied myself of those for so long that I forgot how to make them LoL This week maybe I will remember how to enjoy MAYO again. I just read that you can have that too in the LCHF lifestyle (tuna, chicken, egg salad).

What a day .. finally finished up a little early. Got another raised bed going. I put leek and onion seed in it and a few cloves of garlic .. will see what happens. Sometimes I get lucky and get to garden all year :)

About to shut down for Sabbath. Getting a head start. Be back tomorrow after sundown.

PS.. diet is going better than I expected. You really don't get hungry LCHFing it. I'm thinking the carbs are what makes you crave more carbs. Having a bit of trouble getting all the protein I need. I think I need a high octane protein pill LoL

If anyone has any quick fix recipe ideas or just a good meal plan to share so I can get ideas .. please share. Running my seed biz takes up most of my time and I will become even more scarce as my busy season rolls around .. so not much time to look stuff up.

Well ... the lack of cookies didn't bother me so much last night. Bread, tortillas, chips, hot pockets and most other processed foods were never kept in my house so gave those up years ago. No battles with sodas, juices and other sweet drinks cuz I gave those up before also. I mostly shop the edges of the store except for spices .. gotta go down an aisle for those .. and COOKIES .. lol .. of course those were down an aisle. Yup . cookies and milk were definitely the culprits. I've been playing with that calorie journal and it's definitely the carbs from cookies/milk that got me here.

I discovered yesterday that I can have CHOCOLATE in very small amounts. But since I'm low carb/hi fatting it (LCHF) I was kinda bummed to be having to give up chocolate (the main reason for my CHOCOLATE chip cookie addiction). Seems I can have my "cake" and eat it too on this one cuz the dark choc that I LUV falls into this diet --but only in small amounts. This may be my saving grace :-)

I am sort of worried about losing weight too fast. I know that instant obedience = instant blessings -- and I am being extremely strict while learning LCHF -- but is it really healthy to lose 7ish lbs in 5days?? For the moment I'm chalking this up to the loss of 'water weight" AND the loss of gas/bloating.

Think of a propane tank .. when you buy the refill it's alot heavier than the empty tank you bring in for exchange. So yes ... GAS has MASS (weight) and that's prolly got something to do with it as well. I'm keeping an eye on this because I never signed up to be on a fast track/too good to be true kind of diet. I decided to do LCHF as a lifestyle change because after much research it just made sense to me.

Who else is LCHFing it? Is this the norm? or should I add a little more carbs? Any pointers from long-time-LCHF-ers would be greatly appreciated.

Made it thru day 2 of "no cookies at night". Made myself take a benadryl last night .. not because I was sneezing and not because my eyes were watery. I took the damn thing so I'd get sleepy in a hurry and crash out instead of stress out over NO COOKIES. I swear that giving up crack cocaine and cigarettes was easier than battling my sugar (chocolate chip cookie) addiction ... AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! LoL I feel like a choco-chip-oholic cookie addict ;-) I can see myself now .. i'll be standing on the side of a freeway with a sign that says "Will work for chips ahoy". (that's an exaggeration of course) .. but I am adding up the 2.99/day that I usually spend on cookies. That is $90/mo or $1080/yr -- not including milk. I could actually go on a mini vacay AND buy a cute bathing suit that I will probably actually fit into by then for that amount. LOL.. the thinKs that I think to keep me from thinKing about COOKIES! heh heh

I'm down from almost 235 to nearly 230 in just a couple of days .. I know that this is because my bloating from the excess sugar is going down so this is just water weight coming off. However, I did the break down on just one of my faves .. Pepperidge Farms Chesapeake Cookies (i.e. chocolate chip w/pecans) and found that I'm already saving myself AT LEAST 1040 calories/day by not eating a bag of these guys. I've gotta go get the nutrition facts off those walmart chocolate chippers so I can see how many calories I was actually eating there. I'm really not even worried about anything else that I eat ... cuz I know it's the cookie addiction that's got a whole other 90-lb-me tagging along for the ride :-)

PS .. Did I ever tell ya 'bout the time I quit sodas in July 2005? Lost 15 pounds in a couple of months without even getting up out of my computer chair.

PPS .. I keep forgetting to get my daughter to take a pic. I want to post my NOW/FAT pic so that I can view my progress along with you guys.
