Oy Vey The Unhealthy Way

I skipped out a journal entry yesterday. This was probably best because boy! did I not eat right. I'm actually fasting a bit more this Lenten season. What I'm attempting it to fast at least 3x / week + Meatless Fridays (and trying for 1 other day out of the week). Yesterday was Day Deux of fasting and Meatless Friday. I started off my morning w/my favorite: Quaker's Apple & Cinnamon to-go bars. For lunch, I made a toasted wheat and Tilapia (that I had gotten from IHOP the night before) sandwich. I will admit, I cannot cut out condiments like my boyfriend. My boyfriend is this wonderfully healthy guy. He doesn't eat any condiments, red meat, or desserts. He's a chicken/seafood/veggies and healthy pretzels kinda guy. He trains and dances 3-5 days of the week; Is very tolerable of my undisciplined self. I'm always asking him workout and health advice, yet I'm not very good at following them. So back to my unhealthy day... because of exams, I didn't get anymore than 4 hrs of sleep the day before, which was probably why I had a major case of the munchies.

Official Day ... None
Someone once said, there is no better day to eat begin eating better than today. Today is the first day using FatSecret, so I shall consider this as my first Official day of healthy living. At first glance, I seem like a health nut. I was physically active all my life and I understood nutrition fairly well. I had wonderful guidance from friends and coaches on how to eat. But once you begin to dig deeper, you begin to see I am far from a health nut. I eat fast food and no longer active. This year, I began to take care of myself; one teeny tiny step at a time. I'm eating smaller portions. I try to plan what I eat and where. I try to eat better food. However, that is difficult b/c I'm always on the go: school, work, errands, extracurriculars, social lives. I end up eating fast food or snacks that give me instant energy and leave me with an instant crash. I live in a city renowned for its many holidays and its rich food. This just adds onto the level of difficulty I face w/eating right. I don't think of the way I eat as a diet, but rather as a way of life. It's just kind of difficult. I'm sorry about how I write. My mind jumps all over the place. Ahh the woes of eating right...
