I have been a veritable diet guinea pig the past few weeks. More important than trying each diet for a day or two to see how it affected my mood and appetite, I read numerous books and blogs to see which diets made the most sense, from a physiological standpoint and from the "I'm a superbusy career mom that has not time to cook or think or anything" standpoint. The diets that really clicked with me were the low carb, high fat, moderate fruit/veg diets. I had done Atkins in the past and felt very cranky and missed my fruit. I even went in the opposite direction and tried a fruit-based diet that made me feel awful. I then discovered another low carb movement out there that restricts you to about 50 to 60 carbs per day and allows for daily fruit or starch, as long as you stay within your allotted carb allowance. Examples are the "Glycemic Load Diet" and "Eat Fat Get Thin". These 2 diets are very similar but I'm following "Eat Fat Get Thin" (Barry Groves) because it gives more specific guidelines. Hoping this one works :)
