I have been married for almost 25 years with two sons ages (almost) 18 and almost 21. My husband is retired Air Force EOD and now works for the USPS, and I am a secretary here at Shaw AFB. I've been trying to lose weight since before my wedding. I was around 140 back then and thought THAT was heavy! My weight has piled on over the years. My high was about 217. When we're both in the mindset to lose weight, my husband and I make a friendly competition out of it and weigh in every Saturday morning. We log it in a spiral notebook and if we both show a loss or maintain, we treat ourselve by going out for a healthy dinner that evening. Otherwise, we really try to refrain from eating out. He works as a mailman for the USPS now and does a lot of walking at his job. Unfortunately, secretaries typically don't get a lot of exercise at their jobs, which is why I need to walk at least 2-3 days per week at the track. I have tried TOPS, but just don't have the time for meetings nowadays.

I need help overcoming my ramen noodle cravings!
My sons and I love the roasted chicken Ramen, so if I'm making them at all, I have to make enough for all three of us! However, for just me, I'll make a package for myself (eat half, save half for lunch at work), but you definitely have to only use 1/2 of the seasoning packet... it has way too much sodium for anyone. I also add about a cup of (thawed) frozen mixed vegies (corn, beans, peas, carrots, limas) for some extra nutrition. The trick is to fix your servings right away after preparing it. Portion out what you will take for a later meal and put it away. Make sure you drink a lot of water to help flush out the salt!

Excess Skin
Loved reading all the posts on this as I'm definitely in the same boat. I'm 45 and have 12 yr old and 15 yr old sons, but probably didn't do as much to tone as I should have afterwards (definitely didn't!). Fighting the good fight now, anyway.... Too bad we all can't have a tummy-tuck donated like Kate Gosselin!
