Decided to change my maximum caloric intake on here. I was doing a max of 2000 a day and not quite eating that much (and it just sounds like a lot of calories anyway to me if I'm eating healthy). So, I upped my challenge to try 1700 calories and see where I am after a week. Eventually I'd like to try to limit myself to 1500. I've been transitioning myself from the tremendously poor diet and eating habits I had developed over the last 5 years with my significant other. My goal weight represents what I was at when we met. My hope is that I will look more toned and leaner at that weight than I was those several years ago. We'll see how this goes! lol.

gaining 0.1 lb a week

I'm planning on doing a weigh in today after work. I'm kind of nervous. I know I've been doing really well at keeping my intake below my RDI and I've been exercising 4 times a week. I'm getting stronger and starting to see some faint signs of muscle tone underneath my fat. :-P I know the theory that muscle is more dense than fat (common myth muscle does not weigh more than fat….a pound is a pound people. lol).
Anyway. I think the scale is not going to give me a number I like and while that is truly discouraging, I know that my heart muscle is getting stronger and my lungs are too. My heart rate has gradually come down from where it was during cardio when I started. My recovery time is a lot quicker too as per my heart rate during cool down. I'm able to do more sets with an increase in weights compared to when I started too. All of this is encouraging, it's just not seeing the number go down is not.
I've gotta keep pushing forward.

starting to monitor my fat, fat percentage, body water, bone mass, and BMI. Didn't have the money to monitor muscle gain. maybe in the future, I'll invest in one.
fat: 77.8 lbs
fat percentage: 34.1%
body water: 48.2%
bone mass: 7.6%
BMI: 30.9
funny thing about my bone mass...I've always heard the term 'big boned'...well, it says for my age range (I'm 30), that anything over 6.9 is considered high...guess I'm big boned. lol.
Weigh-in:
228.4 lb
lost so far:
7.6 lb
still to go:
48.4 lb
Diet followed reasonably well
