Today I decided to eat healthier. Although my meals consisted of a lot of grains, I had a lot of meat and greens for dinner. I drank a lot of water throughout the day and felt hungrier. As I was reading my textbook, I learned about low energy availability which is one leg of the female athlete triad. This stage is when the energy expended minus the energy intake is very low, basically saying the diet doesn't match the amount of exercise. I was beginning to think that maybe I was like that. I do a lot on a normal basis. The three days I chose to cover were some of my very light days and I ate a lot more during this time. On a normal basis, I eat roughly one meal and then have light snacks throughout the day. Jotting these notes down has really helped me see that I need to start eating more of the healthy calories I need and stop filling my day with unhealthy snacks just to make up for the calories I'm missing.

Today was a lighter day of eating for me. I wasn't too hungry and did not go to the gym so I think those factors may be closely related. I tried eating healthier foods since my meals were very small and infrequent. I haven't been feeling sick or anything of that nature so I assume the change in diet hasn't really affected me because I am already used to eating various portions from day to day. Tomorrow should be an interesting day because my sleep patterns have also changed so I am very interested to see how that will affect my diet for the day.

This is my first time dieting. It's been pretty difficult, but it's fun and new. I'm not going to call it dieting; I'm going to call it better living. I'm excited to get into better shape and feel good about my body. I think this site will help me track my eating so I can eat the right amount of stuff and eat more frequently.
