5 day egg fat (2 day transition) experiment is done, and with -1,5kg I’m pleased with the results after having forgotten what it’s like to lose that much in a week! Don’t remember the last time that happened.

I am aware much is water due to carbohydrate restriction, but some is also fat loss due to a higher caloric deficit than usual.

For context, my BMR is 1400, maintenance range is 1800-2000, and weight gain range starts at 2100-2600. All depends on muscle maintenance/growth, sleep quality, stress management, & activity levels of course. Always the important factors combined that matter.

During this experiment the daily averages of the week divided between 5 eggfast days & 2 transitiondays were
Eggfast: 1156 calories - 25% protein - 73% fat - 2% carb
Transitiondays: 1275 calories - 33% protein - 59% fat - 8% carb

So it’s a clear deficit of 500-800 calories per day, and knowing my weight loss maths I do know it would require me to eat 900-1150 calories a day consistently to lose 1kg per week which of course is not sustainable by any means, and neither is a deficit that big recommended for longer than 12 weeks without medical supervision and much higher weight obesity cases, so don’t take this as a suggestion please :)

Taking something away from this experience would be it is easier for me to maintain a lower calorie intake with more fats like butter, ghee, avocado oil, and full fat cheeses & milk so if I want to occasionally go to low calories to break through a stall or plateau I would increase my fats considerably, increase my sleep/rest, and relax for a week and let it happen :) Now I come out the other side energetic, rested, ready to lift heavy, and yes eat quite a few fruits today!

I never felt particularly hungry or cranky except last night when I needed to take a 4th meal, and my only craving was for fresh fruit. I would like to continue in a modified way to see if I can hit 70kg with slightly more calories and carbs for strength training and find a balance between satiety from fats & strength from the body recomp experiment I did last year which was very low in fats. Maybe I could combine the best of both worlds and find a new way forward which works for me long term, sustainably.

Overall I’m pleased with the results, and will see how things continue out in the coming weeks. I will continue to weigh in more regularly to keep and eye on the progress, but I really needed this week to help be get some clarity of mind, and am grateful for that :D
