Today is the start of my second fortnight. Weighed myself last night and was a bit disappointed that my weight hadn't changed but weighed again this morning and I've definitely lost some.

Keto sticks arrived yesterday. These sticks have a whole lot of different tests on them. The first test showed that I was not in ketosis and my body was too acidic. :( so looked up alkaline foods and had some for dinner last night. This morning's test showed bright purple for the ketones Yay!! and neutral for the pH. Wow, this is just so interesting!!!

G and I went to the Asian grocers yesterday and met a lovely woman from Laos and her daughter while we were buying fresh beef bones. She asked why I was choosing the knuckle and marrow bones and I told her about bone broth and that I was dieting the healthy way. She said she too was on a health kick (she was very slender) and recommended water cress smoothies and coconut water. I love coconut water and occasionally buy fresh young coconuts but I've been caught a number of times with ones that are not so fresh. So we discussed coconut water and how it was impossible to find, other than in the fresh coconut, without added sugar. Luckily the guy in the shop overheard us and told us 100% coconut water, with nothing added, had just come into the store so we both bought a box.

Later while I was searching for seaweed, a really nice, smiley man was watching me and then asked if he could help. I told him I used to buy a certain kind of seaweed that no longer seemed to be available. He said his wife would be able to help me and so I followed him around the store until he found her. She is a tiny little woman and we both giggled because we'd said "Hi" to each other about 5 minutes before. I told her I was looking for the seaweed, I used to buy in dried form, to make the bright green seaweed salad. These delightful people were originally from Vietnam and she told me the dried form was no longer available but I could buy a big slab of the frozen salad from Cosco! G and I had decided not to join Cosco as there are just the two of us at home now that the kids have all left and we don't want to buy in huge quantities. But Japanese seaweed salad is a very good reason to join.

A little later as we waited in the queue, the lady from Laos and her daughter came back into the shop. She had a small piece of paper in her hand and was a little embarrassed. She said, 'My daughter said I should have told you' and handed me the paper. On it she'd written 'Garcinia Cambodia'. She said 'This is very good to lose weight' and, still embarrassed, 'I don't usually do this, but only with people I feel love for'. How beautiful! I thanked her and gave her a big hug. It really made my day!

As we left the store with beautiful fresh vegies including bean sprouts, coconut oil, a mixture of seaweeds - wakame, kelp, nori and Korean seaweed - laksa paste, the bones (that are on cooking at the moment) and bonito flakes for the Okonomi-yaki, the Vietnamese couple were in the carpark. We stopped and had a chat then left smiling and waving.

So last night I googled Garcinia Cambodia. I wonder if anyone else on FS uses it. It seems to be all the rage but awfully expensive in Australia - $20 for 60 x 500mg capsules + postage. Looked at some of the US sites and found some at Vitacost - $8.99US for 90 x 1200mg, a huge difference, so ordered 2. Also found MCT oil there - 16 fluid oz (474 mil) for $9.19 and only $9.99 for the total postage. Amazing savings!! MCT oil is about $25/500ml in Australia and the postage is around $12.

It was a great day yesterday and can hardly wait for my parcel to arrive

Will I ever get used to weighing and measuring?

A day of some silly mishaps. Made my 'fat' coffee this morning and popped it on the bullet blender but obviously I hadn't put the blade on properly because it started leaking out all over the cupboard. I am just so not used to weighing and measuring everything but G (who so often just drives me round the twist but is almost over-supportive of my diet) weighed an empty identical cup, filled it water and weighed it again and then (he's an accountant) worked out to the nth degree what I had spilled and what measurements of what I needed to make up what I had entered into my journal.

It was then, when we weighed the oil and cream that I realised I'd been using a spoon I thought was a US size tablespoon, but it only actually held 8 grams and not 15 grams. (Australian tablespoons are 20g) So after more calculations he told me how much more oil, etc I should put it to make the fat coffee what I'd intended it to be. Whew!!

So we got it right! and I wasn't really hungry at all until dinner time when I did the opposite this time. WannabeSlimmer2013 had given me a good suggestion for more protein. Tuna! Grabbed a can of tuna and checked in the food data base. Thank goodness it was already entered. Serving size 89 grams.

Mayonnaise is a must have with tuna. Checked the various ones in the fridge and none were suitable so made some out of egg, oil, mustard, vinegar, lemon, salt and white pepper. And it is awesome! G, being very helpful as usual had opened the can of tuna for me and popped it in a bowl. I weighed out some shallots, coriander and red onion, chopped them and stired them through, plopped a spoonful of mayo on top, drained the last of the kimchi (must make more tomorrow)stole a tiny bit of G's dinner roll to load with butter and I was in heaven.

Through dinner I told G that I didn't think I could eat all the tuna but I really needed the protein and it did taste good so I scraped the plate clean. After dinner when I was filling in my food diary, I asked him how much was in that can. 185g! I thought it was 89g. Not a big problem tonight because I really did need the protein but I'll have to get used to this weighing and measuring business and not make a mistake like that again. It could be disastrous.

After I fixed up the tuna entry, noticed that the percentages were really off so ate a boiled egg from the fridge, quickly made my fat bomb version of coconut-ice and checked the percentages again. They looked a lot closer to my Fat 68% Carbs 9% and Protein 28%. Protein is a bit up and fat is a bit down but not a bad day really after all.

It's funny really because I've not been much of a sweets eater, but just found a page with sugar free coconut ice, White Christmas and a Ferrero Rocher recipe. They look like they'll make great fat bombs!!

Now I have to get on my Hypervibe and do my exercises before bed.
