I am determined to lose 5-6 pounds. I think if I could change how I view what I am doing I would be more successful. For example, I look at weight watchers as an intervention. When my weight gets past a certain point, I go back on ww. But I know that I need to change my relationship to food. I need to live the weight watchers way and think of it as my new approach to eating. So, this means that I measure my food, eat fruits and veggies regularly, choose snacks more wisely, binge much less frequently, and when I do binge, do so in moderation. That means, cut the portions in half, and eat far less of the fatty foods when I do eat out or away from home. It is funny because the only time I am consistent is when I eat breakfast in the office.I just need to reorient my thinking about food permanently rather than temporarily to lose a few pounds.
It used to be that I freaked out when I saw 134 or 135 on the scale. That number has moved to 138-140. So now I am excited if I see 134/5 on the scale. I can't have any of that. Look, I am not 35 or even 40 anymore. It is easier to keep on weight rather than lose it, and it is easier to gain weight to begin with. Then there are my physical limitations or issues that I struggle with like my shoulder or hip/thigh. These complicate working out. Also, it is just plain harder to work out excessively like I used to. I suffer much more later that day or the next. I don't look for excuses to not workout so there is an emotional toll as well. Plus, there is this nagging fear of aging in terms of its affect on me as it relates to pain. Still, I don't want to look for excuses not to do what I need to do. I need to eat healthy, make good food choices each time I possibly can, and when I can't limit the collateral damage. I can cut out the bread, or eat the center of things, put extra fruit or lettuce on the plate. I know a lot of healthy eating approaches and suggestions, I just have to consistently implement them. Lets try that and see how it goes. 133 is my new weight goal, so that is not that bad.
