Lowest weigh in so far today. Definitely feels good to know that even the smallest of changes work. For the past month (maybe a little longer) I have been consistently aware of my food choices (less consistent with tracking). I have cut down on the amount of sugar that I consume on a daily basis. I bring a protein shake with me for a snack at work when I get hungry if I’m not able to take my break on time, and I have stopped late night snacking, which was a big one for me. I would generally stay up pretty late then start pantry surfing. So now, when I feel like I want to start snacking, I just go to bed. I’m usually tired anyway, and just fighting in. My sleep hygiene is something that I am also trying to improve for my overall health. I have increased my physical activity by going to the gym and weight training 2-3 days a week, and going on approximately 1 mile walks once a day, I strive to do this daily, but am working on consistency.

So, the past 5 years have been a STRUGGLE for me! Once fit and in a good routine with healthy habits. I hit a wall. I was dealing with A LOT of life changes all at once and my weight gain just snowballed. I also fell out of my regular gym routine, which can be expected with a move, new job, new schedule, etc. I was depressed, less active, and eating out more. I was able to maintain for a little bit…then COVID (which I know I’m not the only one) although….unlike many others I still had access to a gym. I don’t think I realized then how isolated I really was or felt. I was working from home, so I didn’t go anywhere, other than a friends small gym. After things started opening up more, I decided I wanted to push myself and train for a Bodybuilding Comp. I’d lost the weight before, so I could do it again. No problem, right? WRONG. Big problem. The calorie counting, my constant self comparison to others (pics of Pros 🤦🏻‍♀️), and the shift from being excited about seeing the development of every muscle to muscle dysmorphia, turned the gym into an obligation. The obsession over food lead me to binging on the weekends which would then make me feel like I’d need to restrict more and gradually my disordered eating and previous became a problem and I gave up.
