Late entry. Drove to El Paso in order to get DD's passport replaced. 5 hours down, 5 hours back; good ride with her because we talked about this and that and she is usually pretty isolative. I thought my eating was horrible, but actually it didn't turn out too bad.

What helped was that I split my indulgences with her - a bag of Flamin' Hot popcorn, a large french fry. What hurt was that I didn't take any water - that would have reduced my impulsive snacking - and that I ordered a large creamslush at Sonic instead of a small one. This and my other snacks were recreational eating; I wasn't hungry. I was bored and driving for hours. I felt like "I deserved" food that tasted good, but left me feeling more tired and a little sick. I "deserved" better.

I also did not exercise :( I could have planned better and walked for 30 minutes before getting in the car. I could have taken my walking shoes with me and then walked around El Paso while we waited for the passport. I could have walked when I got home instead of going straight to bed, but the sugar in the large creamslush left me feeling tired (and it made me a more tired driver which was dangerous).

Overall - except for the lack of exercise - I'm glad I had this day. It showed me that a "bad day" wasn't really bad - unless I do it every day and that I can have that amount of eating and still lose weight - especially if I walk a few miles.

Whoa! I just went on Sonic's website and found the drink was double in calories! (so I changed my food diary to reflect 2 drinks). I think the serving size has increased, but I can't change the serving size on the Fatsecret entry; it allows me to edit all of the nutritional information except that. If we can't trust the calorie counts, we can't make realistic choices. Anybody know how to fix this?

Not sure how I messed up on my earlier journal entry, but it didn't record. Anyway, back at work after a three day weekend and I am pulling a double shift so I'm here until 11:00pm. Got up and walked at 6:00am - 2 quick miles (33 minutes). Wish I had gotten up at 5:00 - I was awake, but I'm grateful that I did walk. It was nice to see that I could walk, shower, dress and still get to work on time. 7/7 days exercising!

Question I'm playing with in my head: How much to eat on plan when not hungry. This morning I was dashing out the door so I grabbed some almonds (10) and a peach. I planned on making some oatmeal when I got to work, but someone was waiting to see me - and I wasn't hungry. So I waited until now (lunchtime) to eat the lunch I had planned. Similarly, I ate lunch late yesterday because of kid stuff, and then I wasn't hungry for dinner. I ate 2 hard-boiled eggs and a peach instead of the dinner I had planned. Everything I've ever read about dieting and nutrition urges the reader to eat by plan, to not eat too little, to fear not eating because that will sabatogue the diet, that eating too little will slow the metabolism, etc. But I wasn't hungry. I'm not afraid to eat my entire calorie allowance, but should I when I'm not hungry? Can't I just take the weight loss or eat more later in the week?

This is the first time I've participated in an on-line public weightloss forum. The frequent log-ins are really keeping me focused on my goals. 7/7 days that I have exercised and 7/7 days that I have eaten healthily! Incredible. I wish you each a successful day - whatever that means to you.

Total steps (at 10:11, still at work) = 16,413 (Walked the halls at work when it was slow.)

Just got back from my walk. 6.2 miles in 100 minutes. I shaved 5 minutes off of yesterday's time for same walk! Exercise tracker doesn't allow me to put in 3.7mph so I am recording it here to keep track for myself. I would love, no - I am looking forward to getting back to 4mph on the hills around my house. I still want to bike some, but DD has left my bike at her girlfriend's house and has not brought it home yet.

Progress towards goals:
1. Daily Exercise: 6/6 days. As little as 1.2 miles, as much as 6.2. I don't care. My goal is daily. I did notice yesterday that despite, or because of, walking 6.2 miles in the am, I felt like getting up and moving again after dinner. I didn't - I sat on and read stuff on line, but I felt like it. My body is responding to the daily workout.

2. Eating Plan: I've eaten three meals/day x 6 days with one fruit snack 5 days and 2 fruit snacks 1 day. I've had no sodas, no refined sugar, and no junk for 6 days. Amazing. My calories are within limits (below 1600) and my appetite is actually down.

3. Odds and Ends: I've been logging daily; I started my vitamins again yesterday; I've been drinking more water. Oh - major success (so far) - this holiday weekend has been without binges. If only I can continue this way of living!!

Total steps today = 18,029
