It's been a tough go. I've been doing Crossfit 3x or more a week and I have been building muscle and losing fat, but seeing no changes on the scale, which I know I shouldn't rely on, but I still have a goal to reach, ya know what I mean? I'm wearing smaller clothes. Others have commented on seeing changes in my body.
So, I can deadlift 190 lbs and bench press 105 lbs and row 400 metres in 2 minutes, and it feels great. I did 60 burpees the other day. Not perfectly, but I did them much better than in June. I just keep trying to remember those accomplishments and trusting that as my body builds the muscle and burns the fat, eventually the scale will go down.
It's just that I am a wee bit competitive and the 80 extra lbs holds me back from doing a lot of the body weight exercises like push ups and pull ups, etc. that other women are getting close to doing. The good news is, having hauled around my former 280 lbs, means I'm one of the stronger women at the weight lifting.
I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and I'm really hoping that if I can stand wearing one of those masks, and I can get a good night's sleep, that it will improve my mood, and my athletic performance positively.
Anyone had experience with a CPAP machine and how it worked for their sleep apnea?
Of course, the seasons are changing and that has kicked up my fibromyalgia. I had almost forgotten how bad the pain can get. And how frustrating on top of the muscle pain from working out. Somehow, they are completely different. Maybe, because the muscle pain has a rational cause? And a rational progression from bad, to better, to gone. Sigh.
Thanks for all of your support FS Warriors. I try to keep up on your journal entries and I am with you in spirit !! Keep up the good fight, WE WILL PREVAIL !!!

Hello all,
I've been at this Crossfit thing for 4 months, 3x a week. I've got to say, I mostly enjoy it. I can almost do a few respectable burpees. But the biggest gains have been in strength areas that don't involve heaving my bodyweight around, natch. I'm not sure which will happen first, I'll lose enough weight to do a full push-up, or I'll gain enough strength, lol. I set a goal of 10 full push-ups by July 2016 and
One thing I can do really well is the deadlift -- 140 lbs. And a respectable bench press of 80 lbs. Upper body strength just seems so hard to build, for a woman. Ah well.
My resting heart rate has gone from 103 bpm to 65 bpm, which is a HUGE improvement in fitness. I've been slow to lose the weight because I find it difficult to maintain a calorie-deficit and make it through a tough workout. I'm finding that I have to increase my protein intake, by a lot, in order to lose weight while keeping at the fitness routine.
On my off days, I have been biking everywhere and trying to do a 6-8 km ride 2x a week. I love speeding around on my bike, I don't know what I'll do once the snowy winter arrives --- walking seems so slow in comparison.
Anyhow, I keep up on your journal entries and follow your progress FS Buddies. Even though I don't have much to say, I support you in spirit !! Keep fightin' !!!
